Looking for custom expansion chamber built

Thats a tough question...I have an idea what I need, still need to crunch the numbers in the chamber design software. Big issue is the use. I have a cr500 engine im putting in a modern bike chassis...I need to make a custom chamber and need it to fit the bike. Looking to see if someone can do it for me but if I need to i will make the pipe (tac welds) and have a pro tig weld it... It will look nicer from a pro

    Any leads would be great.
    Thanks!

There's a local guy who makes really nice pipes for GP125 and 250s, but I'm blanking on his company's name. He's a big part of the vintage scene, though. I'm sure someone involved with AHRMA knows... Is it Morgan? I can't remember...

Ill search for jolly moto....I think service honda only had stock chambers...I need a local guy to make the chamber....I think there is another guy in CT that make nice ones too....??? Looks like im going to use a hyosung gt250r bike as the chassis..My buddies a dealer so I get it cheap, plus the frame is traditional so mounting the engine is simple. Problem is the weight, at 370 dry the bike is a bit pigish, im hoping its mostly the engine
Looked at the ninja 250, frame is tougher, clearnce for kick starter may be an issue. Clerance on the hyosung looks good!
    Keep you posted...

    Thanks folks!

Found the cone pipe sections pre-made at the sema show...Will work perfect, ill make my own pipe....Much better!
I will post pics of the entire project just in case it works out well. I plan on rubber mounting the entire engine to stop vibration but still try to keep chain alignment stiff...That will be the hard part.

    Cheers

    update:

Well here are some pics of the project.

    Stock bike:
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...bike_stock.JPG

    CR500 two stroke engine installed:
    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...new_engine.JPG

    http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...500running.wmv

Full rubber mounted engine/radiator etc because these 500 engines are a vibrating nightmare.
Going to finish up the radiator hoses and start on the expansion Chamber. Im going to just make it myself..Found a company that sells tapered cone steel that will be perfect for my pipe, that and the stock pipe...Ill clean and smooth it all and paint it flat black when done, should look great as I have plenty of room under the bike. Bike weights in dry right now at about 310lbs.
Hmmm 65 hp and 310lbs....should be interesting... Ill keep you all posted!

I plan on making my own pipe....Pretty streight forward....Thanks for the info.
The big issue was finding the cone shaped steel...That company has tonds of diffrent shapes needed to pull this off...Definatly going to make it much easier for me....

Wow, what's the function of this bike? track only?

The CR500 is an odd choice as it's not really a revver and the gearing is really short. What are your plans for it?

It looks like you could eliminate the cradle part of the frame!

Hey Dan keep posting pics. I'd love to see how it comes out.
Kind of OT, but you mentioning those cones made me think of "metal spinning."
Sort of a lost art, but extremely cool. I cringe every time this guy puts his hands on the work but apparently he knows what he's doing.

There is a company that makes a wide ratio gear set. Plans are to get it running, work out any bugs and then pull the engine. Build the engine and put a wide ratio transmission in it. Its only real narrow gearing right now due to a few things. the rear sproket on the cr500 is large! Mine will be smaller...The pipe on the cr500 is made for torque all down low...My pipe will shift the powerband up the RPM band....You ever ride a big bore two stroke dirt bike?
They are f-in scary....Im doing all I can do to eliminate some of the massive torque just off idle...
The reason im making the bike myself..hmm many reasons. I like two strokes...wanted an rz350 but they are kinda expensive now...over $4k for a nice one. Wanted a modern frame/running gear and body work.... I could have gone grey market...nsr250 but they are $10k for a nice one and parts are tougher to find here in the states...Been there dont that before with a ns400r...great bike but parts are hard to find. I wanted a super simple bike, easy to work on, tons of parts and very quick. no its not gonna beat some modern superbikes but it will be very diffrent. Looking to use it for street use and maybe get to the track for a track day! Got about $4500 into it and almost done. Hell the bkie was $2900 new! Cant beat that as the fit and finish on the bike is real nice....no its not honda quality but im real happy with it....I have a zx-14 for noraml riding, just wanted a make my own toy

I saw that show on the spun metal....Wild!!! My cones are not as fancy...simple sheetmetal welded into cones.. Megs Exhaust Warehouse-Exhaust Systems, Exhaust Collectors, Components, Exhaust Conical, Mufflers, Exhaust Tips

    Ill keep you posted!

LOL, ill be lucky If I dont flip it first....Kurt, saw that same show on the spinning...it was cool! I thought the same thing.....Where the hell do they do that proceess and how does osha let them do it..
Ill bring the bike on a local ride this spring so you can check it out. The body work is not on yet...There will be a mud gaurd on the fairing at the bottom...Was already on the bike...Black with mesh screen. Ill cut it down a bit to let more airflow to the radiators...

Ok, I measure my whole setup....Port angle, dia, lenght of pipes diam etc...

Put all the basic info into the two stroke chamber design software and what was the outcome?? I could not belive it!!!! The factory pipe I have was matched inch for inch what the program spit out....The program spit out a pipe that was made for 6400 rpm max power rpm. I modified the rpm to move up to 7000rpms so I can shift the powerband up the ladder a bit to try and keep the off idle brute torque in check. Doing this because the massive torqure right off idle will make it a bit harder to drive in the corners. Good news is that I can use the stock pipe that came with the cr500 bike. I will simply cut the pipe up into sections, rotate the sections to make it fit properly and weld it back together. Trim down the lenghts on the certain sections to make the overall length a bit shorter. This will make the process move much faster. If it comes out nice I will clean it up pretty and have it painted flat black. Need to wait for the muffler to come in before I start cutting....Keep you posted!

    Awesome.
That should save you TONS of time over having to fab up a custom pipe.

Thats what I thought...Reality sets in once I start cutting
Looks like the head pipe will work, Im guessing the belly of the beast is going to be new, then I can use the back 1/2 of the current chamber to hook up to the muffler. The frankenstien pipe might need a heavy layer of thermal wrap to protect the eyes of the innocent LOL
