Well those who didn't go missed a great time. Nice to see so many familiar faces, accept my apologies if I didn't get a chance to say "Hi".
The only bad part: While the food SUCKED, at least there wasn't enough of it.
Other than that, CONGRATS to Gary Silva on going home with more awards than any other person in the place, PERIOD. It was (apparently) a well-kept surprise that he was, in fact, the Vanson Rookie of the Year winner.
Some of the speeches made by champions were priceless. First one up was my good friend Eric Yoo. Now bear in mind, this guy was famous for crashing at least once in EVERY RACE. He gets up and delivers a sentiment of surprise at getting 1st in GP Singles, and springs on the crowd a PracticeMan-like revelation that well, "I haven't really told the parents about the whole motorcycle thing yet." Toofunny.
Then Doug Scheer gets up with a silly costume to accept a 1st place for his pal Rick Doucette (a.ka. Elvis), and gives an acceptance speech! Odd, but as it turned out, that was the same as the speech later given by Doucette hisself when getting first for another class.
The highlight, in my heavily biased opinion, was the video presentation at the end, given by NESR Racing and Motorsportpix.com
Folks, Derek deserves all the accolades for that one. He worked tirelessly for a coupla weeks, with empty promises from me to show up and help. Sure, those were mostly my images and video in it. Yes, I did get there twice to offer my input, but he really did 97% of the real work to make it a success. THANK YOU Degsy! Good job!!
