    LRRS Banquet report

Well those who didn't go missed a great time. Nice to see so many familiar faces, accept my apologies if I didn't get a chance to say "Hi".

The only bad part: While the food SUCKED, at least there wasn't enough of it.

Other than that, CONGRATS to Gary Silva on going home with more awards than any other person in the place, PERIOD. It was (apparently) a well-kept surprise that he was, in fact, the Vanson Rookie of the Year winner.

Some of the speeches made by champions were priceless. First one up was my good friend Eric Yoo. Now bear in mind, this guy was famous for crashing at least once in EVERY RACE. He gets up and delivers a sentiment of surprise at getting 1st in GP Singles, and springs on the crowd a PracticeMan-like revelation that well, "I haven't really told the parents about the whole motorcycle thing yet." Toofunny.

Then Doug Scheer gets up with a silly costume to accept a 1st place for his pal Rick Doucette (a.ka. Elvis), and gives an acceptance speech! Odd, but as it turned out, that was the same as the speech later given by Doucette hisself when getting first for another class.

The highlight, in my heavily biased opinion, was the video presentation at the end, given by NESR Racing and Motorsportpix.com

Folks, Derek deserves all the accolades for that one. He worked tirelessly for a coupla weeks, with empty promises from me to show up and help. Sure, those were mostly my images and video in it. Yes, I did get there twice to offer my input, but he really did 97% of the real work to make it a success. THANK YOU Degsy! Good job!!

I ditto everything said by Ken. Excellent time, congrats to Gary in his Rookie of the Year Glory, and Derek for putting countless hours into this. It was great to see everyone again.

I don;t have a list, but what a big stack of firewood Gary now has! Other options, considering they're nicely finished chunks of hardwood, build some furniture, do a floor, or, God forbid, cover a wall with 'em!

And the one award he left the stage with empty-handed....was the best!

Ken, thanks for the thanks, but it's easy to make a good video with all those great shots in stunning quality. I have already posted to the NEAR list asking people for their input to make next year's video even better. We should have far more video footage next year.

The sale of DVD's raised $1100.00 for the injured rider's fund and that was presented on behalf on NESR and MotorSportPix.com.

Congrats to everyone on their awards, Gary, Bob, Mike, Gman, great job this year
Derek and Ken, you guys put together a pretty awesome video. I can only imagine what next years video will be like

I wouldn't say the food sucked (not the chicken anyways) as it was pretty tasty, it was just a kids sized serving

Congrats to everyone who picked up awards last night. I saw quite a stack sitting on the 3 NESR tables. Gary...special congrats for a well deserved Rookie of the Year. You are one fast mutha and one of the nicest guys I know.

Ken...awesome pictures on the DVD. There are a ton of exceptional shots. Nice work.

Degsy...the DVD is truely outstanding. You must have put in tons of hours to get it to the level that its at. That is truely a professional job you did producing it. The artwork at the end where the championship winner pictures fade in is magnificant.

Gerard...Pat's hubba hubba was a good idea

I'll actually take full credit for that one, thank you. I did the Photoshop work to get the blacked-out, neon-light image and the full color in perfect registration, then advised Degsy which transition to use in the video editing software. Came out just as I'd expected!

The whole thing was big fun.

It was too bad that I missed the banquet Sounds like it was a fun time, even a better time after the banquet. But I prob. would of been pissed the whole night becuase of the small kid size food portions, if you know me then you know how food and I go.....What can I say Gary we all knew you were gonna get ROTY buddy you deserved it......'one day I wanna grow up to be just like Gary Silva' lol You went all out this season your a hell of a guy and you deserved the recognition.
