    Re: LRRS fees

I thought the free camping if you own a garage was only if you parked in front of that garage. Did that change this year? I usually set up a camper in the infield.

Also, anyone else notice they dropped VP fuels? The 93 octane seems high, too. I understand having a price increase, but more than a dollar a gallon seems like gouging to me. Just saying.

Tom just clarified(on the LRRS FB page) that the camping "spots" included with your garage fee are just the four parking space(really two 18 wheeler length) spaces outside your garage.

This is the one thing I take issue with, but only because I don't want to see the garage parking lot continue to be a pit area for people who don't want to rent a garage, and also don't want to be on the infield.

I would think that there are a few options to this, possibly asking security to rectify the situation being one. I've always thought it to be along the lines of parking at a condo complex. Everyone has their assigned spots, offenders will be asked to move.

He's talking about the guys that park campers along the perimeter of the garage area and pit there, but are not renting garage space. They are not in the designated garage owners' parking spots. But taking up space many of the garage owners would have used.

IMO those camping spaces should be reserved for guys who rent garage space. Senseless to make garage tenants park their campers in the infield and walk back and forth to it.

But my dog isn't in this fight anymore.

I don't have a dog in the fight either, but I completely agree. This seems like an easy fix.

    Re: LRRS fees

It'll take more than that. In my experience people are perfectly willing to ignore paint and signs.

In my opinion the parking permits were lip service last year. I'm still not quite sure what they were trying to accomplish. And I'm not aware of any enforcement. I was a good doobie and always had my permit visible. But I don't think it mattered. I also tried to be a considerate neighbor and not take more space than I had to.

What they should do is number the 18-wheeler slots. #'s X-Y go with garage Z. Simple as that. What you choose to park in those spaces is your problem. Park in someone elses space and expect a tow or at least a friendly reminder to gtfo.

Also were I master of a garage I'd encourage my guys to ignore the lines and pack the trucks and trailers in tight. No sense taking more space than you have to just because of some painted lines.

I can comment a bit on this as I dealt with it. On enforcement, they weren't actively looking to find offenders last year or the year before. If no one complained, they didn't do anything. If you did complain, they were very interested to know, but unless the offender is on site they couldn't do anything. If they were, they'd ask them to move... dunno how much beyond slight pestering they were prepared to do?

I prefer to camp in the infield just to get away from it a bit. Maybe if we make our garage parking space permits visible then that could be a fix for allowing us to park/camp in the infield. Would this be a sense able request? If so, who do we bring this request to?

Tom Blanchette is the man to ask on this one.

the garage fenced area should be reserved for camping and parking of garage renters. its simple as that. then you can fit all the people no problem, nit having to worry about 4 spots in front of a garage etc.

Seems like the parking tags were more a ploy to get someone to acknowledge they were the garage manager and there for held responsible for stuff left in the garage.

So you want the whole paddock if you rent a garage?
They give you four spaces with the garage and you think that entitles you to the whole thing??
Sorry don't agree being one of thoughts guys who like to pit along the fence and not in the dirt... don't take up much space and never interfere with the garage spaces also seen plenty of guys park there camper and pit along the fence, do they charge them for camping more then likely they do.. don't see any reason why you need the whole lot

There is plenty of paved ground that is not in the garage area. Why wouldn't you go there?

Heard back from Brenda, only free camping in front of the garage your renting. Have to pay extra for the infield. Guess I Was just hoping I could use my garage rental camping/parking pass for the infield instead. Your right about that Sam.

    Re: LRRS fees

I actually do think that the entire fenced garage area should be for people renting garages, with the spaces directly in front of each garage "reserved," and the remainder first-come-first-served.

This way, people who are renting garages, who often split them more than 4 ways, can all park/camp within sight and short distance(generally) of the garage they're paying for; not beyond a fence and on the infield. Renting a garage is expensive, and I think it's reasonable to expect paying that premium to entitle you(collectively) to the entirety of the fenced in garage lot.

NHMS has a beautiful infield area; if you've already made the decision not to rent a garage, why would you choose to camp and set up an outdoor pit area within the garage fence, as opposed to on one of the freshly paved infield access roads, each with an adjoining hard packed, lined, powered camping area? An EZup on pavement is an EZUP on pavement.

People who choose not to rent garages pitting on the infield allows those people to keep their pit area, vehicles and camping in one area, and also allows the garage renters to do the same. People who choose not to rent garages pitting inside the garage lot often forces garage renters to pit in a garage, and camp elsewhere.

Either way(as of 2015), NHMS didn't enforce not allowing outdoor pit areas to be set up inside the garage parking lot, so unless they choose to enforce it this year, what I think it "right" is irrelevant.

    Not arguing for or against.

Some people would prefer pavement to the gravel/dirt mix to have their trailer set up on. This minimizes the dirt tracked into your camper and on tires etc.

I like the infield personally but that was a reason that popped into my head when I read your post. Do wish they would have grass where the gravel is but understand that gravel is much less labor intensive than gravel.

Ok - l had a blast in a few races at the tail end of last season and planning to do a full season this year - anyone renting a garage looking for someone to share a little space? Hoping to race Sat and Sun for each round. Space to park a van with small trailer would be ideal. I live 20 mins from the track so I'll be crashing at home.
