Hey Berry / Saxman.
I actually was riding moto today with Steve Aspland (guy who does the LRRS site, for free). I brought up these very points. (in between my asskissing of course)
If you guys would like to find me this coming Friday / Saturday at the races, we can all go over and bounce some ideas around. He's on the same page you guys are....

The practice argument again! The lane I'm in always goes slower. Who do I complain to???
Experts had a 3 lap session on saturday. I didn't even here anybody whine! How did the novices do???
That's because I red flagged it after one of you squids decided to crash and then leave the bike in T 11! :DQuote:

I'll be up flagging the next couple of w/e's for practice and I'll bring a stopwatch, for shits and giggles of course.
Deb, I got a third in the ulsb last week did that qualify?Quote:

To all Novice LRRS Racers just a reminder that anyone in the following classes will be eligible for Contingency this weekend:
LW Supersport
GTL
MW Superbike
There will not be an announcement over the PA so stop by Garage 19 if you need another schedule or information. Certificates will be available for pick up at the end of each race day after the final results have been posted.
Contingency program starts this May race weekend. All Novice riders should go to Garage 19 for the schedule.
Paul, I was an expert when I made the complaint.Quote:

...and it's not a practice argument, it's reality. I have timed it a few times, with witnesses. Experts typically got 23-26 minutes, amateurs about 11-16 minutes.
derek
for me, i figure I have to put in my time there like anyone else.
i am trying to just quietly work myself into the system, meet people and just go through what everyone else had to go through.
if it means shorter practices, or whatever so be it.
i had a freakin' blast up there this first weekend, and now that I have an idea on how things work, next weekend will be that much more fun

Thanks for making my case Alex. I don't mean any disrespect to you, but we have been through this many many times. You ARE the said newbie in my scenario above. Again, I really don't mean any disrespect to you. You are a good guy, and if anyone can make a change you are probably the one, with your promotional skills. However, I won't hold my breath.
I look forward to seeing the new website........bwaaaa-ha-ha-haaa-hahahah
Good luck, seriously, good luck. heh heh heh
...and the bit about Steve Aspland doing the website for free. That is always brought up. "It's free!!" Woo-fucking-hoo. It doesn't matter to me how much it costs. It's not free to me, because I wouldn't be paying for it anyway.
It's free, and that makes it more profitable for LRRS, which is good. Screw giving good service, it's FREE!! so it works for them.
Are the results posted yet? No, that's piss-poor. I'm not blaming Steve Aspland, he does a stand-up job, considering it's FREE! (that word keeps coming up doesn't it?) but an organisation like LRRS should not be using a web service that is free. They should be paying a professional company to provide web service. The web site is the only way they communicate the results/standings to you, so it should damn well be up-to-date, the same day as the races. It should be part of the race-day workload for the poeple who are paid to run LRRS.
Just look at how many threads on THIS BOARD ALONE asking "are we registered?" "has my checked been cashed?" "Why did I get a bad grid position when I pre-registered?" etc etc etc and we represent only about 1% of the novices at Loudon. 8 out of 10 novices at LRRS in their first weekend are completely confused about what the fuck is going on. I would guess that nearly 100% of Penguin grads miss their first practice saturday morning because they are just not propared for the endless lines and admin at registration.

Holy crap, EVERY thread?
:D
i didn't say it every thread lol every other thread
Deb:)
Hey Degs,
I ain't doing shit-all with a new site. I merely brought up some of the points made here to get some feedback, more for the other guys that really care, as opposed to me who is cool with how things are run. Completely random running into Steve today, so.. I just flat out started asking questions *shrug*
In the one whole year I've been racing I've been thrilled with the results being posted in what I consider a timely fashion. A few times I was home on Sunday (after racing Saturday) and refreshing the results page every 30 minutes and races posted AS THEY HAPPENED. Sorry man, but that's fast no?
I dunno how many more times they have to talk about this past weekend. The NHIS computers were knackered. Now the NHIS computer UP THERE have the results on them, and until Steve physically goes up to NHIS, he can't post the results. It's not like all the people who actually raced in the races don't know how they finished, or what their laptimes were (since those were posted in the garage, just like always).
Personally, I think I'll survive this crisis. Honestly I can't get too worked up, after hearing the circumstances, about not having the results posted online... just online.
ps: I don't have promotional skills, I just talk to people. :)
I seem to remember a few years back when they ran the endurance team races they had real-time results posted. Lap-times, places, fastest laps, time down, EVERYTHING as it happened. We even had a computer at our pit area so we could watch everything during the race. Whatever happened to THAT?
I don't know what my laptimes were. Did they post the NV PTWN race? I couldn't find it on the wall. :dunno:Quote:

Oh well, it's not like I need a list of laptimes to tell me that I'm slow. But it would be nice to know where I'm starting from, before the next race weekend. Maybe they'll have the sheets posted next weekend...
Doesn't hurt that Rising Sun Cycle has their ads listed first on the site, right? And that Steve is a Asst Race Director? Nothing is for free, and RSC gets first dibs on web site real estate.Quote:

Some people to point out how people do this stuff for free, etc, when in reality they do benefit from it in other ways--Woods have the Penguin school, Jerry has his auction company, Steve has Rising Sun, etc, etc.
Bottom line, all the people running the show at LRRS own side businesses that benefit from the decisions they make for themselves.
Guys I know it is frustrasting about not getting lap times and results etc however Rick the runner who some of you may not know retired and trying to replace him and all that he did, like the contingency and lap times and tech stuff etc...they are working on trying to find someone who can do those things....
I only know where I finished cuz they gave me trophies for each race!Quote:

Yep, just found that out today myself. They probably talked about it on the near list, but they have to remember that the near list is not the best place to publicise stuff like that as many people have unregistered from that particular list due to the endless drivel that comes out of it.
I talked to an LRRS 'insider' today at length and got the low-down on the computer glitches. Maybe a notice on the LRRS website to say there were computer problems would be in order? The computers weren't 'broken' as I understand it, but work that should have been finished over the off-season to upgrade comms lines is not yet completed.
I also got some very logical explanations as to why the practice times vary and why it may impact novices more than experts. It would be nice if this explanation was given in the past by the LRRS officials instead of them just attacking me for even questioning the timing of practice.
derek
BTW, whoever cross-posted this to NEAR list might use near to inform BJ that I'm not interested in discussing this with him (I guess there was a post on the near list from BJ wanting me to contact him off-list about this) . I don't race any more and I really am not concerend about what goes on at LRRS other than helping out my friends who race there and trying to give them advice on what battles to fight and what ones not to fight.
So much for a nice NESR Family members' discussion :hmm:Quote:
