Neophyte question - my apologies.
Should I be removing my belly pan for tech inspection? This is just a belly pan, not a lower. Rules state that lowers should be removed for tech but I didn't find anything that speaks to belly pans. Just wanted to avoid taking it off if I don't need to - I don't have nice captive fasteners on there.
Bike is a gen 1 SV650. Belly pan is DR 404 from ebay.
Belly pan comes off.

If your oil filter is clearly visible, I wouldn't worry bout it too much. If there's any question, bring the bike over n ask. The tech guys are people too. You can ask them questions.![]()

I thought Tech also looked for a wired drain plug hence removing the belly...
Yeah, was just about to add that. Was on my phone sitting in traffic when i posted.

I've forgotten to remove it a few times, went through no problem without realizing it. But officially it should be removed AFAIK.

I use both "U" and/ or "J" nuts similar to what's pictured in this link.
Been using those for years and have not had an issue however I chose to reinforce the mounting points with some printed circuit board breakaways similar to the straight edges pictured in this link
Come by North garage 10 sometime this weekend if you wanna see how it turned out.
Chris I've got some extra Dzus fasteners you can have if that will help, will be there Sunday only.

Thanks for the input everyone. The safety wired bits might be visible enough with the belly pan on so I am going to leave it on and be prepared to take it off if they want to see.
Butcher, I think I will take a look at what you've got. I don't think I am picturing the circuit board quite right.
Brady, I might take you up on the offer for your extras. I will stick with the nuts and bolts for this round but I will make a deal with you for what you have left-over. btw, power cords for your warmers will be available if needed.
yeah, id leave it on, i did last round with that same belly pan. you can see the filter and drain bolt, so youre good to go. isnt that thing sweet, its super durable! (i would know, i crashed on the damn thing twice the day after i installed it)

no clearance issues that i noticed...except when the bike is sliding across the ground on its side, then it tends to touch...what a crappy design!![]()

Yeah, I'm certain I didn't explain it clearly and I'm not able to post a pic since the bike is packed up.
Basically, the straight edges on the top and bottom in the 2nd picture are the breakaways. What I did was cut smaller sections and rivet them to the mounting points on my belly pan. Had to drill a few holes but total time to install 6 of them was something like 30 minutes.
Feel free to stop by though.
Went through tech without issue. Brett is right that you can see the filter and drain plug with the pan mounted.
If so they'd better let us know soon. 11 days before practice and I've never heard anything about it. That'd be kind of shitty to do with so little notice.

just FYI when I went through tech on Sunday without my lower, they made me come back with it. Apparently now they are requiring all belly pans to be inspected to ensure they will hold oil.
I asked at tech if I should just leave the lower on as long as they could see the wired oil filter (easy on SV) and they said yes.
So, next round I am keeping the bike together and we will see what happens. Worst case scenario it is only a few dzus to remove.
