Missing Donation Thread

What happened to the Chris Dinoia donation thread and why was it deleted?

I have already contributed via paypal to the account listed in that thread and I know others would like to do so as well, so I think the info should be available...

Oops! I soft deleted it thinking it'd still show & show why it's 'on hold'. I guess doing it as an admin doesn't show that...

It's on hold right now as we're trying to come up with a way to handle ANY personal fundraising here. I can't say enough that I certainly don't question the sincerity of this or how many may perceive it's importance - that's FAR from the issue with these type of fundraisers. The biggest issue with these right now is what type of liability do these place on NESR and how can WE validate every aspect of the effort...

I hope everyone can see through the 'why can't we do this?' and understand our position with these. If permission was asked FIRST as we request (threads about this are stickied in EVERY forum area), this particular conversation wouldn't be taking place...

To recap (because I KNOW people are only gonna focus on why it's NOT up right now and draw their own conclusions even though I spelled it out): We do NOT question the good will of any member wanting to do this sorta 'helping individual out' fundraising. We need a way to insure that ANY of these are on the up & up and we need to come up with a way to validate these, every step of the way...

He pm'd me and said they have issues in the past validating these. Not sure if that means validating the actual incident or validating that I'm not scamming money from it. I think anyone who knows Chris and I also know we would do anything for each other and I'm trying to help the guy while he's not able to help himself. Basically this ties my hands as this was really the only way I can show Chris how much the racing community does care for him.
BTW, got yours and all I can say is THANK YOU. This means alot to Chris' family and myself. Hopefully I will be at the track next event to sell shirts for him as well.

Stoneman, I think its a valid concern and in the end will help protect all of us as members of NESR. We will all be willing to donate AFTER whatever validation process you set in place has been gone through.

I'm fine with it. None of us need scammers on here, anyone who really needs the help could be penalized as a result so just let me know what I need to do and it'll get done. Just hope it doesn't impede the end result for Chris.

Exactly. We don't wanna 'penalize' anyone and we certainly do NOT wanna slow the process for any legitimate fundraising to help individuals. But we need to somehow make sure our asses (NESR) is covered in these events and we don't want these getting outta hand here...

Thanks for the explanation Jay, I know you're not making a judgement about Larry/etc but trying to do it the right way.
