    Moto GP 2017

I'm not so sure. He had checked out before losing it remember.... What was he 2-3s up after a few laps?

COTA is his track. Nobody will be within 10 sec when the checkered flag flies, is my prediction.... after that little mishap he will be out to reassert himself.

    Season predictions: 93, 25, 46
I am a Rossi homer but I dont think he has the pace to keep up this year unless we run into some wet races or strange track conditions

Argentina was a good race, Mav looks like the real deal. Really liked watching Folger/Zarco ride as well, Cal looks like he has the Honda figured out as well. Austin will be a good test for MM to see if he can handle a scrap with Vinales and push/race cleanly in what could be a close one without doing anything iffy or crashing out (same for 25 but he seems more poised than Marc his first year). I think one of them take it unless they hold each other up and Rossi can hang with them or someone like Dovi/Cal/AI have a good setup. Rossi seems determined from what he has said to have a good race, Dani looks fast though as well. Won't be able to watch it for another 10 days but here's hoping the good season continues.

Looks like he held it. Unbeatable in the US. Dovioso and Lorenzo were just scrubs this race. He must still be feeling out this bike for the first year. Hope like hell it doesn't end up like Rossi's foray into the Italian brand

It's going to be worse. JLo is nowhere near as versatile a rider as Vale.

Some nice drama in the battle for 2nd yesterday after the "Zarco gives zero f's" incident / penalty thing.

Loved the race Sunday, really too bad about Vinales though wow, so early on too. I thought he'd give Marquez a run for his money but nope.

Zarco is fun to watch. Pedrosa ran a great race too. Love seeing Rossi off to a great start this year for sure!

The race up front wasn't all that exciting really. There was some good racing going on further back though. J Lo is not having a good year lol.

    Re: Moto GP 2017

I was pretty pleased watching the up front action. Pedrosa ran a solid race and although there wasn't a ton of back and forth with Marquez, we all knew he was coming with his tire choice. Pedrosa tried to strike back at the end of the back straight and ran it wide and then we got to watch the world champion put his head down and check out. The Rossi/Zarco incident was interesting, they both think they were right. Rossi definitely made a mistake in the first corner that cost him some speed so I can see why Zarco went for it, but I couldn't see a legitimate way for him to finish the pass so I guess I give the nod to Rossi on that incident. I'm looking forward to seeing how Ianonne develops with Suzuki, things are a lot more interesting when he's a front runner.

This is my first year on beIN rather than the MotoGP season pass. I did it this way because I can also get MotoAmerica and WorldSBK for ~$13 a month. The coverage is pretty good, I like that they're not taking commercial breaks during the race a la Fox Sports, that was honestly my biggest hesitation in giving up the season pass. Thumbs up to beIN.

I might have to check that out, I'm currently watching on daily motion and quality is terrible. At least it's free though

    Re: Moto GP 2017

It was worth it to me. I think it was about $120/year for the season pass. All the extra content was nice, on Fridays I could fire up practice while at work and watch GP bikes. I really wanted to be able to watch MotoAmerica and WorldSBK this year too so it made more sense to just add the channel. I'm on DirecTV, beIN comes in a "sports package" with a bunch of regional networks so it's great for watching baseball as well.

Agreed. I dropped the extra cash because bein sports (Verizon) is useless for anything besides race and shitton of commercials. Highly recommend to anyone else. Stream it right through the appletv.

    Re: Moto GP 2017

I don't have network TV/DirecTV so I'm subscribing to MotoGP and WorldSBK VideoPass separately. Not exactly cheap, but after trying fubo.tv, beIN sports online subscriptions and never being able to watch a single race/access race archives and floundering with their apps I gave up. I'd like to watch MotoAmerica as well but I don't think they have an online pass... I did find the entire 2016 season online though.

Probably a better way, but I do really like the MotoGP app as I usually watch on the iPad, can pull up old races etc.

    Re: Moto GP 2017

Haven't had a chance to watch Moto2 and 3 yet, but I did get the GP race in yesterday evening. Really good stuff from Zarco although he faded. Zarco was looking very Ianonne'ish, all while Ianonne is looking very unIanonne'ish. Hell of a race by Pedrosa, although it is a bit boring there's something cool about watching a guy get the hole shot and take it all the way to the house. Nice bit of excitement inside 10 laps to go with Marquez slowly closing the gap on Pedrosa, kept me on the edge of my seat wondering "is he going to do it." Great job by Pedrosa with 3 to go dropping the hammer and breaking Marquez. J-Lo had a nice ride himself with a not-so-great qualifying and a not-so-great start. It will be interesting to see if he starts consistently putting the Desmo on the box. Rossi hangs on to his points lead. Barely.

I agree, other than Zarco's ride, it was a snooze, but an interesting snooze. The kind of nap where you wake up in a different location.

    Moto3 was awesome!

    Lorenzo looked good in Jerez. I wouldn't count him out. I say 93, 99, 26, 46, 25.

Holy crap, I hadn't seen it. That could have been fatal. Reminds me of Daijiro Kato's crash.

    Re: Moto GP 2017

I dunno if anyone caught it but me...but when Rossi made his pass on Zarco, they had the on-board camera going with the gear indicators and all of that. As he's braking into turn 1, I see the gear indicator go from 6-5-4-5-6-5-6-5-4-3-2 and he slips right by Zarco. Not rocket science, but very smooth. Very cool.

That race was fantastic. I think there is a correlation between the entertainment of the race and how much good practice time they have. I think they maybe should consider removing FP4, but at the same time think the guys should get more practice than they already do. The more time you give them to find the optimal set-up, the more likely it seems that someone rides away with the race.

Um, that's a lot of shifting to get from 6th to 2nd. Am I missing something?

He started to brake, started his downshifts, then shifted up to let off the engine braking and slip under Zarco. He then appeared to fine tune the engine braking with a couple more ups and downs before finally dropping into the turn.

That doesn't seem likely or possible. Could you actually SEE all those shifts?

It made sense in the video when you compare it to his closing speed on Zarco, the timing of the pass, and the corner...I replayed it to see if he actually made a mistake and it looked very intentionally. At some point I might go look again and post the time stamp...but not at the moment, haha. I could very well be wrong or not have the shifting pattern perfectly correct.
