Tom indicated that the rulebook for 2015 was complete and that it should be posted last week. I've not been able to find it posted anywhere, however. Perhaps my googlefu is weak.

Re: Any news of the Yamaha R3 and/or the RC390 being eligible in the 300 class in 201

    Just noticed this:

KTM RC390, Honda CBR500R and Yamaha YZF-R3 Eligible As CCS Announces That 500cc SuperSport Class Will Run At Regional Championship Events In 2015

...This is where the idea came in for a new 500cc SuperSport class to bridge the gap between the 250cc-300cc bikes and the larger displacement categories. After researching and discussing the possibilities with young racers, their families and respected members of the American road racing community for more than a year, the 2014 ASRA/CCS Rules Committee agreed to bring the new class into existence with a limited schedule for the 2014 season and now for 2015 the class is going to run in all CCS events run by the Fort Worth Office.

And now, with the introduction of new models under $6,000 retail such as the KTM RC390, Honda’s CBR500R and the new Yamaha R3, the field is wide open for participation by all manufacturers giving competitors a real choice in equipment just as there is in all CCS classes.

”The timing is perfect for CCS to broaden our scope by encouraging the younger racers to get one of these new, exciting motorcycles and join our regional race series” said Kevin Elliott, President of ASRA/CCS Racing. “Especially with the new KTM RC Cup joining the professional ranks, there needs to be a place for these young riders to get up to speed and prepare for the road ahead, that is what CCS has been doing for over 30 years.”

The 500 SuperSport Championship is open and will follow the current 2015 CCS SuperSport rules from Section 6.1 of the ASRA/CCS Road Racing Rules and Regulations using the following displacement limits:

    500 SUPERSPORT

    (Combined Amateur and Expert)

    Single cylinder, up to 600cc

Twin cylinder, 2-stroke, up to 400cc

    Twin cylinder, liquid cooled,

    non-desmodromic valves, up to 500cc

Twin cylinder, air cooled, up to 650cc

Four cylinder, liquid cooled, up to 400cc

Four cylinder, air cooled, 2 valve, up

    to 500cc

LRRS doesn't run Supersport 500 though.

Looks like I found a new class to run old 400's in?? CB-1, FZR400, VFR400's... "Four cylinder, liquid cooled, up to 400cc"

They're already showing up in some other CCS regions, it's been a mini FZR revival as a result.

R3 is eligible and must follow supersport rules. RC 390 is not eligible.

I think someone goofed the rules. A class is Superbike, B is Production, C is Supersport.

    CBR250R - A - Superbike rules
    EX300 - B - Production rules

So far, this matches last year.

    R3 - C - Supersport rules

Wha?! So the new entry level hotrod is going to be allowed tweaks that the EX300 isn't? That doesn't make any sense to me.

While you're perusing the rules, read Chapter 13 (Start) on page 25 and get familiar with starts using lights instead of a green flag. I'm not sure exactly when the equipment will arrive, but it's coming.

I've never used lights but I have a hard time believing they'll be as exciting as the green flag waving. If that doesn't get your blood pumping nothing will.

I never thought of waving a green flag as "exciting". I would think the rush would begin when the 1 board went up and the motors are revved up in anticipation of any signal to go. The signal has nothing to do with the rush you get when you and your fellow competitors take off all at once. I think Scott Greenwood said something to that effect when comparing racing to track days.
As a Starter, I have always been amused when a rider came up to me and told me that they figured out my "tell". It's not like I'm playing a cat and mouse game with the grid to surprise them or anything. Starters that actually begin doing that are usually canned by their organization. I suppose the racers will now try to anticipate any flexing of my wrist before I push the button.
I think starting lights will have greater visibility, especially further back in the grid. There is no risk of the green flag flying out of your hand. (Don't laugh. Ryan has done it twice and I did it one time at a car race.) MotoGP uses them, WSB uses them, AMA used them and I'll assume MotoAmerica will, too. Why not us?

The visibility part will be a huge plus. I like actually having a flag but it really sucks when you can't see it from a few rows back in the grid.

NEMM has lights for Boxshop, once set they are on a random timer to go out, there is no tell. No issues drumming up excitement around them yet. We've even looped out XR100s / TT-R 125s we got so wound up with them.

Lights are a welcome addition, kudos to NHMS for making the investment.

Ideally, there is no random timer. Consistency is the rule.

I was under the impression that the light was ALWAYS random by design to keep us guessing, unlike drag racing with the "tree".

That's my impression, I'm going to pull up some WSBK vids and time the lights there and see if there is anything in the rules about it... Fixed timing could get interesting.

the beauty of the lights - everyone will be able to see them....unlike being blocked by other riders to the flagger and having to wait until someone leaves.
