    NHIS news....

    Interesting....

"It had long been speculated that if NHIS were to be sold to Smith, it would take him no time to strip the track of its Cup dates. But, the SMI source suggested, that may not be the case. While NHIS could lose its July date to Las Vegas, SMI could salvage NHIS's spot on the NASCAR schedule by swapping Chase dates with Texas, thus making it the start of the Chase.
I wonder, is this good news or bad news for motorcycle and other road course racing at Loudon.

I dont get why youd buy the place, then strip it of its most finanically sound attraction? Would he assume to make MORE money at another track instead of loudon?

Because racers will keep paying more and more to race there, that's why. And they aren't allowed to complain about any costs associated with racing.

I still would thing between Nascar and all the ads generated that would be the one thing youd WANT to keep more. I dont think how much we contribute is anywhere NEAR what Nascar brings in for money.

Maybe what they'll do is fix the road course really really well and bring in MotoGP to recoup the costs.

Well fi they allow MotoGP, I think they should be REQUIRED for every LRRS racer to be allowed to take a motogp bike for "testing" for a number of laps in exchange for us letting them use "our" course.

All dreaming aside, that is the company that owns Infineon Raceway, which is a road course that holds lots of major auto (and bikes, I think?) races. I'd love to see them do some work and focus on the road course, while throwing NASCAR out the window. Maybe get AMA back, have some major Indy and SCCA races, etc.

Sear's Point (Infineon) is right in my backyard now and it's considered one of the more 'unsafe' tracks on the AMA circuit. While they've made recent improvements, it's still pulling teeth to get them to upgrade the track to make it safer.

MotoGP offered Sear's Point the USGP back before Laguna and they said 'no' because they didn't want to mod the course and make it safe for MotoGP.

Point: Don't expect large changes to NHIS road course. Hope I'm wrong thou.

To answer the question above YES it would suit this company to strip Nascar from Loudon because those other "super speedways" house larger crowds which make more money. They would rather own Loudon and pay the overhead with the tons of cash they will make at the other tracks. I dont see Loudon having 2 races after 2008 or possibly ANY after 2009. Its a shame because it brings a TON of cash into the state from outside vendors and travelers. Concord NH can probably say goodbye the the huge rush they get twice a year from the nascar crowd.

    NHIS news....

I'm listening to a live press conf. from Texas w/ Bruton. He says he will improve NHIS ( now New Hampshire Motor Speedway), and hinted (well more than hinted) one of the dates will move to LV.
