    NSR 50 vs. YSR 50 as a track/pit bike

Would have thought there was little to no difference between the two, but the NSR is listed with a 6 speed tranny and the YSR is listed as 5 speed. I can say from experience that on a track of any size you use all 6 gears on the NSR.

The bikes are out of production so I've found conflicting info on top speed....

Have also heard a little about Metrakit 50 bikes but can't find any used ones for sale.

    Any thoughts?

Bone stock, the NSR50 has a hotter motor with a better gearbox, the front forks are beefier and both contain springs and damping rods, the cast wheels are sturdier and wider, the chassis is stiffer, the rear shock actually damps.

The NSR50 was designed and sold as an entry level trainer bike for road racers.

The YSR50 was designed and sold as a toy.

Metrakits are designed and sold as pre-modded NSR50s.

All three can be built into money sucking track weapons of doom. If that floats your boat.

If that does float your boat consider joining the USCRA email list. Those guys will probably have one for sale if you post up looking.

Well, the question "Did it get hit by a freight train?" came up this weekend while it was getting measured by Computrack... I'll post an update to the thread shortly.
