To do the brake trick I lerned from YOU . THE ZIP TIE TRICK
ZIP TIE YOUR BRAKE LEVER OVER NIGHT. I know your brakes are fine.
DO THIS & TELL ME IT DON'T FEEL LIKE NEW BRAKES.
    MY GOD WHAT A IMPROVMENT.

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

What's it supposed to do? Does it aid in bleeding?

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

I think it allows any air bubbles to rise into your master cylinder.

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

been using this trick for years on my other bikes, make sure you have the reservoir cap OFF and a way to keep crap from drifting into the res. a clean cloth to loosely cover it works well. let it sit overnight like this ( 4-6 hours minimum)

look out for that first front brake grab, it can catch ya off guard.

if after 2-3 days of riding with it you feel the brake lever return to a spongy feel, it is time to repair/replace your calipers or brake lines.

If you leave your cap off, the fluid will absorb moisture and that will being the boiling point down. Don't recommend the cap off part.

air moves up - fluid moves down

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

There are pinholes in the cap. If not, your brakes would lock when heated.

And if youre coming out of the bowl and your brakes heat and lock you end up with a broken thumb. Trust me.

Fluid is compressible. It is just harder.

I tried this overnight and damn, what a difference. I guess I had some air bubbles in my front lines.

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

    My question is this:

    Why?

What is causing this to happen?

Does making any trapped air bubbles smaller through compression allow them to rise upwards in the system when their normal size does not allow it?

Is it the constant pressure on the calipers (floating) that make them slide on their pins farther to have a resting place closer to ideal?

I just want to know why! WOOOOOOO!

Hey Degs why is it when I tell people.

Or, is this causing an airation of the brake fluid through pressure. Similar to how some beer is carbonated. If you let it sit long enough under pressure, the CO2 gets absorbed into the beer and the air into the brake fluid possibly. That would give you less trapped air pockets but would keep the amount of air in the system the same.

    Just thinking out loud.....

Hm.... That sounds like a possibility...

My understanding of it was, pressurize the fluid, increase it's density, reduce the solubility of the air. air comes out of the solution & rises to the top.
