    Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa compounds....

What compounds are you guys running in the MW class? I have supersoft up front and soft out back. I'm thinking its kind of overkill for my pace. I don't know exactly what my times will be. If I had to guess mid to low 1:20's? I was thinking of going with a harder compound for more life out of the tire?

    Thanks.

i was running take-offs at 1:20-21 same compound anything faster you need to get new. Dont know how many races you are looking to get out of a set. Paging Boston Moto

Novice? Mid to low 20's? You will be winning.

I take that back after looking at the novice times. Damn!

Go Softer, Blue Blue Is the ticket these Days If you are in the Mid to low 20's you should Go for the Soft ones as you will not be ripping them up as Quick as Faster riders.

John, do you mean 1:20's or 1:25's?

    In racing "low-mid 20's" means 1:20.0 - 1:20.5's.

Assuming you mean 1:25's... not 1:20.5...?

either way a Blue front green rear will get you a little more life, a blue rear will wear a little quicker but has some more stick.

blue blue seems to be the hot setup for the most part.

    Re: Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa compounds....

You should be on a blue front and blue rear period. Come to our July 15th trackday, we're going to be giving a technical briefing on Pirelli tire compounds, and what you can expect for 2010!! The green rear is not suitable for racing at Loudon, there will be an updated version available next year that might offer an alternative. For now you should only be on a blue rear! Generally speaking, this is regardless of what "pace" you're running. The compounds have ideal operating conditions they are designed for, which are constrained by two factors, track roughness (e.g.: how abrasive the surface itself is) and operating temperature. The harder compounds such as green or yellow, are designed for more abrasive tracks (like NJMP), and require higher operating temperatures. They will not reach these operating temperatures at Loudon, except for extreme cases (think 95 degrees + days), in which case we might recommend a green FRONT tire, however the blue rear would remain the same.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, PM me or email tires@bostonmoto.com

Damn, quick responses! Thanks! So I guess I'll go with a blue/blue instead of a blue/green....

Yeah, I meant somewhere between 1:20-1:25 which is just a guess. I ran a best of 1:27 on a borrowed SV back in May and it was only my 2nd time ever riding an SV. We shall see in July.
