I'm just going to carry business cards to hand out to the corner workers whenever I visit.

FROM THE 2010 LRRS RULEBOOK:
5.2 All machines must have numbers, one on the front and one on both
sides. Numbers must be a minimum of 4" high, be spaced 1/2" apart
and allow 1/2" of background color (White for Novices and Experts and
yellow for Amateurs). Side number plates must be behind the rider on
the machine’s tail section or on the lower fairing on the side of the
machine. They must be visible when the rider is in position on the
machine. If the front fairing is broken by an air intake the number must
be displayed on the scoring side of the intake. (The riders left at
Loudon) There are no exceptions to this rule. Riders should be aware
that these requirements may not be accepted at any other CCS event.

Christ people. It appears, Degsy (non-racer) was the only person who actually *reads* the rule book each year....
for the record. Front numbers are important for timing and scoring.
i have reviewed the video of a number of races due to protest. Not clearly seeing the race number pass the start finish the prescribed number of times has disallowed the protest where the racer was protesting a DNF

Then you'd think it'd have been corrected in the version that's currently ON the website archive. Regardless, 4" numbers WERE in the rulebook, it WAS shown to tech personnel because an investment was made to carry 4" numbers, and any corrections were NOT made to the archived rulebook online and were NOT communicated to riders.
Let's hope 2012's version is clearer.

just make the numbers as legible as possible. Nobody wants to return to the Nazi number plate days forcing zip tied tent like plates on the rear..

Well I'm sure the name calling and berating is sure to make all racers feel welcome in the paddock.
Wow.
Jim shouldn't have to run numbers... they all know him by sight by now.

Thank you. This is more what I was looking for.
It wasn't supposed to be a bitch fest or debate. It was written in the 2010 rulebook, and I know most I4 bikes used 4" in 2011. Since it wasn't mentioned in the 2012, I was curious if the 4" decal for the tail was no longer allowed, or just simply forgotten to mention.
I always thought it was 9" or 6".
You try corner working and calling out a 4"#. I have pretty good eyes and hell even the 6" can be a tough one to call.
I just slapped some 6" on my black tail.
