If your talking about the track plug setup that they give you at the track, not much.

If you tripping the circuit feeding that plug. Then you are overloading it and need 2’nd circuit, or one with a larger capacity, (20 Amps vs. 15 Amps ) You can figure that a 15 Amp circuit is good for about 1,500 watts continuous load 1,800 watts peak (intermittent) load. 20 Amp circuit good for 2,000 watts continuous and 2,400 peak. Add up the wattage of all the tire warmers used at the same time and you’ll know what you have and what you need for circuit capacity.

Also keep in mind that unless they split the receptacle, both plugs on the same receptacle are on the same circuit. Don't know how the receptacle setup is at the track, but if you can you might want to setup between two of them and try to use both.

    Hope this helps,

    Jim

I brought this up last year. There is a 50 amp circuit up there with the larger plug style. I don't know the NEMA term for it but it's not a twist lock. If you can build a circuit breaker box with a cord you will have no problem

2 easy fixes for this ., on the pole there is noramlly a regular outlet ., that everyone uses !!! there is also a 20-30 amp plus that is still 110v ., it has 3 prongs on angles., you can buy an adaptor at walmart for $6 that converts that to a regular plug end to plug in your cord.,

or you can use the 220v outlet 30-50amp., RV type., and buy a plug end and make a 4 gang outlet box just split off each leg so you have 110v to each outlet., i think they make a premade one ., but do not know where to get one., maybe a RV place.., i made my own., if you do not know how to make one ., do not try this...

so you now have 2 options that work well because no one else uses those and they NEVER trip !!!

if you want i can get a coupel of the 30amp round adaptors abd bring them with me next weekend., i usually have a spare or 2 anyway ., i gave them to all my teamates because they are all clueless., lol...

My boss just bought 2 of them things that plug in to the 220 posts, one has 3 prongs and one has 4. It also has a box with 4 110 outlets on the other end. I "may" be able to borrow these every weekend but i cannot count on it. I'll ask tomorrow to see how much they cost and maybe i'll pick one up.

I think the front tire warmer draws 750 watts and the rear draws 800, at least that's what the ones i have say, so thats 1550 watts per set.

Putting something together shouldn't be too hard. If I get a chance to do a panel swap and there is a small sub panel heading for the trash I may make up a small panel to use with it.
I would like to see what Mark has, and an RV place prolly has things allready pre made like someone said before.

I would like to see one and how they put it together. My concern if I make something up is weather and how it will do. Something from an RV place should be pretty weather tight and might give me some ideas.

I'll find out what the deal is with the one we have is, i know it came from a tool guy and not a RV place. We use it run a compressor off the generator and still have a separate braker for the shill saws and shit. Question is, is the post at the track the 3 prong twist type or the 4 prong twist type?

If it's 50 Amps like stated earlier in the thread, it sounds like a range plug....

Ok, i checked out the one at my work today and i got the ok to use it anytime i need it. I thought he bought it with the generator he just bought, but he didn't. He went to home depot and bought all the parts and made it himself. Said it costs about $50 to make one like he has. I'm going to take it home with me monday, take it apart to see how it's wired, make a parts list and go buy the shit at the po. Either way, i'll have one with me for the next race weekend

All the new style dryer and range outlets are now 4 wire, separate grounding and neutrals wires. Dryer is a 30 amp outlet.

    Thanks for the offers
I'll get to work on it during the week. My plan is to make it long ennough to reach the tent, this way we don't have a bunch of cords running everywhere.
