    PTwins dying

I think the latest rule tweak will finally kill off PTwins. For those who didn't get the update:

21.1 PRODUCTION TWINS: (Amateur & Expert
    divisions)

Standard Production Rules. See Section 19.
    Water cooled up to 500cc
Air cooled, OHC, two valves per cylinder up to 650cc.
Air cooled pushrod up to 1000cc
    Updating is allowed
    Rain tires are allowed
Kawasaki EX500/Ninja 500 are allowed to run
aftermarket exhaust to better accommodate an oil
catch pan installation. The OEM air box must be
installed but can be modified to perform with pipe. Oil
catch pans will be required for ALL EX-500/Ninja 500
bikes starting with the June 2013 race weekend.

NOTE: Buell Motorcycles are excluded from this class.
I'd love to have been there to hear the arguments for this. The USCRA crew haven't had a problem fitting pans, the PTwinners have been going against the rule and cutting their crossover pipes for years. Now, to agree to pans the EX Mafia got the OK to run aftermarket full systems AND to mod their airboxes. I'd be more ok with this if it was a general OK for all bikes in the class, and airboxes had to remain stock. You can jet for pipes without modding the airbox. In any case, what's the point of this class now? If you want to lightly mod your EX, just run P89. I believe this is the last hurrah for the class.

    Attention GingahNinjah, this affects you!

They already said that PTwins will be gone after this year at the banquet this winter. This is no surprise.

Ah, I didn't know that detail, so they're basically using this year to ease the Mafia into the standard rules/requirements, that makes more sense.

Yup yup! BJ was not pleased when they made that announcement, but it makes business sense.

Time for the class to die off, and be replaced with a 250/300 class... the machinery available really dictates it.

I didn't notice it at the time, but It was pointed out to me that an EX250 did compete in the expert PTwins race last round. If it didn't conflict with the 125GP race, I'd race my EX250!

A baking pan, drill, safety wire and pipe strapping and it's easy.

Guys. having raced EX's I can tell your there is almost no real advantage to a pipe and tune on those things. It's all about bonzai entry speeds and managing chassis flex.
