General question about racing rotors and pads

What are the advantages of racing (or high performance) brake rotors and pads? I understand the general idea, and I've done some searching, and I haven't found any good explanations. Practical information, such as "if you do <this type of riding> you want to use <this type of products>" would be good. Is the rotor material able to operate at higher temperatures than stock rotors? How would stock rotors or pads fail? What are the limits of stock rotors and pads? If one were to go to a track day, would you have to take it easy on stock rotors and pads? If anyone uses temperature paint, what temps do the rotors see on the track?

    Thanks.

Assuming everything was in good working order and your bike isn't built to the max, no.

For trackdays the stock stuff is more than adaquate. 99.9% of riders(myself included) under utilize their braking performance. Any powdercoating, engine paint or caliper paint, yes it is a marketing ploy, will suffice. I bet any paint would work.

I did track days on my stock KTM setup and it was plenty more than needed.

Trackday stock setup is fine as long as the pads have plenty of life in them.
I would suggest flushing the brake fluid if you haven't done it in the last year.
