What are the advantages of racing (or high performance) brake rotors and pads? I understand the general idea, and I've done some searching, and I haven't found any good explanations. Practical information, such as "if you do <this type of riding> you want to use <this type of products>" would be good. Is the rotor material able to operate at higher temperatures than stock rotors? How would stock rotors or pads fail? What are the limits of stock rotors and pads? If one were to go to a track day, would you have to take it easy on stock rotors and pads? If anyone uses temperature paint, what temps do the rotors see on the track?
Thanks.
