    Question regarding bumping

So let's say that I acheive the necessary lap time in a LW class which makes me eligible to bump to EX however my lap times in MW (where 99% of my racing is done) still needs some polishing, how does that work with the new auto-bump in place?

    Anyone know?

I'd think they would go by the middle weight times, but just speculating...

I'm hoping so. Kinda jumped the gun with this thread but I went thru the rulebook right after I posted and saw this:

And as far as I know there is no auto bump from AM to EX. Only from NV to AM.

This is probably the first time in history these words have been said but I'd petition to stay in AM simply out of respect for others....that and I'm chasing an AM championship at the moment.

I believe in the MW class if youre running 1:15s you get the auto bump from am to ex

    Re: Question regarding bumping

FWIW; no lap times are listed in the rulebook for AM to EX however there are lap times listed for NV to AM. It simply says the AM rider needs to do within 107% of the EX lap record for a given class

I think thats for the auto bump. Makes no sense to make an AM run a 1:15 to bump (current lap record is in the 1:10s) when a lot of the current experts dont do that. At my pace 1:17.3 pb Im faster then some of the experts in the mw class.

    Butch,

I'm in kind of the same place you are. I win a lot of the time in the twin classes but only mid pack in MW.
I've been asking around and no one has said anything about auto-bumping. It been suggest to me to do constant 18's which will take some work. My main classes are twins which is what I'm focused on and not worrying about the MW ex guys. I'm crossing my figure for this weekend.

Ehh I thought about it, but why go for it when you can bump and start getting faster.

Timmy - No worries. I've been called a lot worse.

No sense in pushing 100% when the leading bikes have checked out.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I really haven't seen the need to ride fully at my limits based on how my races have unfolded so far. Placing well has always been my goal in racing. The lap times will work themselves out.

don't get me wrong. when I'm bang out 18's I'm jumping. I just don't feel I'm worthy yet but to say I won because the guys around me move up isn't really worth much either. But if it's the same group of riders all season it's still fun, that's my only point.

For me its a few things. Im still having good races. There are three of us that battle. In our Sunday race we all came off t12 together on lap 8. Was a lot of fun.

I also need to work on my racecraft. I should have won that race on Sunday instead of being 3rd. I had ample opportunities to pass for the lead but I lost my focus on what I was doing and just concentrated on the guy in front. I think if I rode like I can I would have made the move.

I also dont feel Im ready to move up. Ive gained almost 2 seconds this year and there is plenty of time I can gain before I need much faster people to chase.

Right now the plan for me is to stick it out for the year and then ask to bump. Of course that can all change depending on how each weekend goes.
