Question Question about wiring rear sprocket

    Hi Guys,
Would anyone mind looking at this photo and telling me if I've wired this correctly?
Thanks so much for your time and stuff.

    Question about wiring rear sprocket-wp_001572-jpg

I know this doesn't apply broadly to the members of this forum and I don't mind flaming comments but I'd rather not be called an idiot either.

Well thanks for taking a look.

most single sided swingarm bikes i've seen at the track usually just wire the nuts to each other, but yours looks ok.

I've never wired those. Looks good though.

I can't tell from the picture but make sure you wire the clips for the axle nuts to themselves to keep them from spreading and possibly falling off.

I just checked out your page. It looks like your front left caliper bolts may not be wired quit right. You want the wire to go through top bolt at about 3o'clock your bottom should be about 9o'clock(which yours is).

FYI, I tend to fold the extra wire in half & out of the way. your way works, but still exposes a sharp point to a hand.

The better way is to twist the extra wire until it breaks. That way there is no sharp ends anywhere and bending it can kind of be a pita.

Thanks Tim, you're spot on; it's just not quite right. I did the calipers early in learning to do this and I think my skills improved as I've worked my way through. Gives me an excuse to clean it up a bit.

Thanks Rich, I'm itching to post all the pics. As soon as the last parts come in it'll be a matter of hours. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome it looks. I'm planning to bring her over to the cave that I did the 'before picture' at and do a little mood lighting.

You've got to see the sparkle top coat under my work lights - so striking!

Homestead was a lot of fun. I didn't mention that my first set of laps was on a damp track and when exiting turn 3 I felt the front end starting to slip a little. I rolled on the throttle a tiny bit more and she found traction again. Really freaked me out but the sun broke and the track was perfect by the next set.

Re: Question about wiring rear sprocket

Can we get a safety wire section for all these mid winter threads?

If you guys are spending $0.90 worth of attention on safety wire, it doesn't leave much for going fast!
