Do you guys run 180s, 190s or 200s on your 5.5"s?
If you haven't run Pirellis since 2013, you may not have ridden on the newest tire, the Supercorsa V2. We've gotten lots of great feedback on them, and a few fast guys have gone faster since trying them. The 180/60-17 is the "hot setup" for a MW bike with a 5.5" wheel, as far as Pirelli goes.
Shameless plug aside, the front side of the aforementioned RSP Racing garage is the Pirelli garage, which is the other hat I wear during race weekends. Don't worry, you're welcome at the BBQ Saturday night regardless of what tire you're running.

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
They do look at you funny if you show up in a Bridgestone hat though. :D

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
Haha good to hear the camaraderie of racing doesn't change as you cross the continent. I don't know if I'd have the balls to drop to 180's again, lol the fear of high-siding due to my throttle habits on the 200's would be too much...
Anyways that's for next year's racing to worry about, I'm going to try and run the weekend with my leftover tires, save some money. I'm getting stoked, just watching some MW races on YouTube, to get familiar with the track. Some pretty fast corners here!

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
T1 - 3rd
T1a - 3rd
T2 - 3rd, then 4th
T3 - 2nd
T4 - 3rd, then 4th
T5-T10 - 3rd
T11 - 2nd
T11a - 2nd
T12 - 2nd
should be hitting 5th gear by the start/finish line

That's all the shifting you do?!? Lazy!

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
yes, our 600's have more horsepower than a PowerWheels
-
Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
Jim - You're downshifting twice into 3?
You're shifting up going over the hill and back down before 6?
-
Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
T3 - 3rd gear at the braking marker, 2nd at the last cone before tip in.
T4-6 - 3rd at the top of the hill, then 4th down the hill. back into 3rd at the braking zone before tipping in.

Same thoughts I had a few years back. But now running Dunlop UK NTEC DOT 190/55 (which they no longer manufacturing) and Pirelli SC V2 180/60 (mentioned by Kutz above). Quicker/better drives out of the corners (gearing 15/47) and more agility with the 190's and 180's at tight tracks like Loudon.

Pick up your corner speed and you should be able to carry 3rd through T3, then pop 4th well before the top of the hill.

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
I have room for you in the garage if you want. Shoot me a pm for more details.
Also, coming up from Hartford Saturday morning? Your fucked. Lol
I live in western mass, about 45 minutes north of you and it takes me over 2 hours to get to Loudon. Also, I believe you can put an "x" after your number, but that might only be for different ccs regions.

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
Ya I wasn't quite sure if I was going to be allowed to race or not, so I made prior plans with family on Friday night. Nothing an early bedtime, coffee and a good breakfast can't fix.

Carry more speed less break and forget the shift...

Unless you're a morning person, you're probably better off rolling in late Friday night.

This has to be the most squared away "noob" thread ever. Take the garage space with Sam, he's good people in spite of his mustache.

You love the mustache.
Forgot to mention, free mustache rides Saturday night at the party.

Re: Questions for this coming weekend for a Noobie
I had no idea what I was doing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
lol but I pulled off a 1:22.1 while blowing at least 2 corners a lap. Also, I checked my forks after Sunday and they were bottomed again. No wonder my front was skidding everywhere.
