The Making Of A Race Bike...

I've seen it asked a thousand times. What's it cost and what does it take to make a street bike a race bike. I'm doing this the low budget route, and I'm gonna try to break everything down for ya'll as I go along. Sorry, but no digi-cam for this guy. But I'll do my best for ya. I'm gonna break down the cost for ya, buy I won't divulge the discounts we're getting from our sponsors. For those items, I'll be posting RETAIL prices...

I ended up picking up a mildly crashed '99 GSXR 600 for $2500.00...

Used gas tank for said Gixxer was $100.00...

Oh, and WOO HOO!!! I just got my $150.00 COMPLETE Yosh exhaust with carbon fiber can yesterday!!!

I'll be ordering my clip-ons and rearsets from Woodcraft (hopefully) today. Clip-ons (RETAIL) $150.00, and the rearset kits are (RETAIL) $ 330.00 ***Thanks to Degsy's hard work though, we're not paying close to retail for these two items***

I'll also very likely be ordering another set of Woodcraft stands which go for (RETAIL) about $270.00 for the set. I have a rear stand that I picked up last year, and I gotta tell ya'll that these things are top notch. And even at retail, they're priced right...

There it is for now. I've got a looooooooong list of items and odds & ends that I'll be accumilating shortly. I'll keep everyone up to date as this project unfolds...

Thanks in a big way to Josh!!! After some hard nosed negotiating, our people FINALLY chiseled a price in stone. It took some time, but a deal was ultimately reached. Now, I'm sure he doesn't want ya'll to know this, which is pretty much why I'm telling ya...

Josh has incredibly DONATED a set of wheels to my racing endeavor. An incredibly generous gesture that I can only hope will some day be reciprocated...

Thanks, man. That was fuggin' cool! Stonerita's? My place? Say, tomorrow night?

Just ordered my Sharkskinz: 1-piece upper, 1-piece lower; front fender; and they're installing 6 D-ring fasteners. Total (RETAIL) is $696.00, plus shipping...

Again, though. Thanks to Sharkskinz generosity, we won't be paying retail prices...

Normally, the solo tails RETAIL for about $211 (use w/ stock seat) or $226 (use w/ seat pad)...
