Looks like I need to go expert.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Persoanlly I believe lap times are a factor, I cant speak for clases other than MW and up, but if your not riding comfortably in the 17's why bother. The top 17 in the ex class are running in the 15's!? There has been some great amateur racing at the 17,s 18, level and I think that is great. If you running a sixteen flat, go to expert and youll be competetive, your not gonna win but youll be competitive. Its like Matire said in a post a while ago, I go out to race and win, it may not always work out like that, but thats the goal. If your not somewhat competitive in the amateur class why would you even consider going to expert. There are experts that I catch up to after like 5 laps in a race and its not because im too fast. Im not knocking anyone, im just saying id rather be competitive in the nv class than ride in the ex class and get passed buy half the amateurs. Just my opinion

Ha, hey Jamie. Yea I was out with some kind of virus, I tried playing it day by day and was actually planning to at least come up on sunday for one race and practice but my body said no. I did however go up for a track day on wed. to get it out of my system, I was pretty bumed about missing 4 days at the track, i looked like this I am counting the minutes till the end of august, im gonna do the LAP track day also.
I've always been of the opinion that just because you CAN advance doesn't mean you SHOULD advance.
Some people should be in Novice or Amateur for life, even thou technically they can bump up to Expert. I don't think there is any shame in that.

hmm... i'm closer to a .5 than I thought. 9 races as an AM and I'm at a .446? not bad.

So, not that I think I am ready to move to Amateur anyhow but, could someone explain something to me.......
Here is the section of the rulebook explaining the advancement requirements
1.4. ADVANCEMENT:
Novice to Amateur - A minimum of 10 races, and an index of .500 or better. A rider that does not meet these criteria may, upon the completion of an additional 10 races, request advancement at which time his history will be scrutinized.
Here is my number of races and index according to the link that Jamie posted above
# Name Last Races Index Eligible
300 Robie Joel 07/22/2007 10 0.514
Note the lack of a Y under the Eligible column
Anyone have any idea why this might be? Just curious.
Joel
Same reason I'm not listed.
I'm sure once the online registration gets up and running all these issues will be resolved.

Joel I think it's just a type-o. I remember seeing other people last year that had the 10 & .5 w/o a Y next to their name.

LOL if you look on the NEAR list in the "polls" section, there was a poll asking how many people would use it if "online registration" was set up. like 80% of the people that answered said they would.
that poll was taken in like 2004.
i really wish they would do it. they'd get more pre-reg's, and it'd be way more convenient.
and i guarantee there are a number of people (myself included) that would be willing to set it up for them.
Weird, there's a Y next to my name. I didn't think I had enough races........
