I was doing this to keep track, figured some of you may find it useful...
Sorry for it being so long, but some of you rich guys race 5 plus races a weekend, so I figured I better make it for 40 races.
edit: got it uploaded! let me know if it helps
Download Kitt's Race Index Calculator
rapidshare or megaupload will do the trick
Cool,
Nice job over the weekend Kitt.
Did I see 2 bikes on your trailor on my way out Yesterday![]()
Good luck Kit. I met you the night before you picked up the bike over in T1a. Are you going to have her ready for the classic?

Anyone got this?
I think I have a new index of .493
Old was .392
add race 1 at .650
race 2 at .385
and race 3 at .750
divide by 11 races gives me a .493 right?

Ok smart man... So what do I need to get a .500 for the year? Minimum?

I double checked. Looks like .384
0.167, 0.400, 0.167, 0.500, 0.222, 0.167, 0.429, 0.385, 0.650, 0.385, 0.750
Divided by 11
Not that I NEED to advance, just wanted to see how far off I am. Can I drop one of the low ones?

If you finish three races next weekend, then the equation is:
(.447*11 + 3x)/14 = .500
.500*14 - .447*11 = 3x
x = 2.083 / 3 = .694, so the average index of your three races needs to be a .694 or higher
If you only finish two races:
(.447 * 11 + 2x) / 13 = .5
.500*13 - .447 * 11 = 2x
x = 1.583 / 2 = .7915, so the average index of your two races would need to be a .7915 or higher.
ok so do that again with a .384.
I need like 3 firsts.

is my calculator too tricky? works fine, and works correct...
If you guys are comparing your calculations to the ones that were documented by lrrs, their season index #'s were calculated by placement out of entries (which is not what the rule states)...
My calculator does placement out of starters...
I had .846 .857 .773 and .625 this weekend... def. helped my index!
Don't Crash.
No mechanical.
Don't do a Chris.
&
Win all your races.
Any questions?

He can do a Chris if he wants. DNFs don't go against your index. But they don't help either.......
I Say go for it if you want, but make sure you take the oppurtunity to win some 1st place woods before you do.

Thats the way it should be
winning in novice is just a formality ... the goal is to always move up. You gain experience in NV, but once you are eligible to bump, I say bump. At least in AM, once you start doing well you can start winning contingency money
I never understand the people who sit in NV forever just to collect NV wins ... you only get better/faster by running with people that are faster than you.
