    Blown Motor Pics

For those of you inquiring... Here's the culpret behind my blown motor last weekend.

This is what the air box looked like when I opened it up.

    Then we found this...

This is the oil pan I used to drain the oil in the bike... the sludge was already in the pan from being outside, but those shiny bits weren't... those came out of the motor.

Excuse my lack of 4 stroke knowledge, but I am guessing that the valve was the culprit?

    Re: Blown Motor Pics

I'm confused. those look like pieces of an acorn but how did they get to the motor side of the air filter? the filter should block all that from the outside.

    Re: Blown Motor Pics

I believe they are holes ripped/shot through the air filter from what was formerly a valve.

    Re: Blown Motor Pics

Looks like the valve snapped at WOT and then decided to send pieces of stem or seat up into the air filter while getting wedged into the head?

ahh yes now I see the valve being broken in there. would have been my second guess but I kept thinking stuff flows in so wasn't thinking of it popping out.

Hopefully the valves on that 750 engine your stuffing in will be a little stronger.

    Don't be a dick. There's a bone stock 599 motor going in.

And yes, the valve broke sending pieces up onto the air filter

You sound like Lisa and as I tell her,....I'm working on it!
I don't think anyone really thinks your putting a 750 engine in.

Hope the install goes well, looking forward to see what you can do on a fresher motor.

Can't believe no one said this yet ... "That will buff right out!"

How is the bottom of the motor?

Don't really know how the bottom end is. It appears fine but with all the metal shards that came pouring out its probably toast.

Of course not, that'd be absurd. No one would waste the effort. Now a fully punched out 750 with a one off billet head... NOW we're talking!
