Not sure if anyone already mentioned this site, but It's great... sponsorship's usually in the form of discounts....but its quick and easy![]()

I've been on hook it for a couple of years. Downfall of that site is that all the big name stuff (ie: dunlop, shift etc) are all motocross stuff, no roadracing. I've gotten discount offers from dunlop but its only on dirt tires. That doesn't really help me. Not much of a roadracing following on that site. If you are looking for generic stuff like clothing, oil, parts and stuff then the site works great. I had an offer from a clothing company that was like level 4 which was 50% off.

Ok, this seems like an absolutely AWESOME way to show your sponsors without it coming off like a typical promo reel: http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2011/...entertains-us/

Although most of the tips listed here are useful, they are based on the assumption that they will even be seen by the point of contact at said companies. Even very small companies who are involved in racing receive well over 60,000 sponsorship proposals each year. That means you have only 3.4 seconds to get their attention! That's it. So if every one of you guys are doing the exact same thing (email and/or PDF) what makes you think it'll be noticed. Chances are it wont. It'll end up in a large pile on the POC's desk. Further more, large companies receive 150,000 proposals A DAY! You know how they decide which one gets looked at? They close their eyes and pick randomly. Figuratively speaking of course, but that is how one particular marketing director chooses.
Rethink what you guys are doing and saying. Don't be the paper in the stack, be the paper weight on the stack.
And for the love of everything holy, NEVER do this:
Just to clarify, I mean no disrespect above. Time and time again I see racers struggling to get what they need only to fall in-line with what everyone else is doing. Don't be "sheep". Maintain the core tips listed in this thread, then use them to not only think but act outside of the box.
Example: This is my resume which is built in a kart tire. It doubles as a sponsorship proposal when needed:

There aren't 60,000 roadracers in the country.
That number isn't road racing specific.

Will I be wasting my time asking for help with only one round under my belt?
Nope, I had sponsors before I ever even took to the grid

Hookit has been very good for me, you get some amazing programs for comparatively little effort which floors me.

No clue, I've actually never used it. Josh?
While I see it as a good resource for new racers, my preference is to have closer, personal relationships with vendors as sponsors, vs the sort of mass marketed "xx% off if you run our stickers" type deals. Much easier to manage, and much easier to really hold up "my end of the bargain" when it comes to trying to promoting them.

The score is an arbitrary ranking system that Hookit came up with. It's based on not just your race results, but how often you post, how many people follow you, etc. Basically, the higher your score, the better you look for potential sponsors. For example, my road race score has dropped approx 150 points since my last race in August, just from sheer lack of posting ANYTHING.
