Well, loaded up friday around noonish to head up for my first race weekend. Still had a few things to finish before heading to tech inspection. Thanks to Tully, Jay, Bob and Jason Yelk who helped me put everything together! After that, went up to get my license, transponder and register for the w/e races. Saturday morning I went to tech first thing and was in and outta there in about 3 minutes. Had first practice at 8, went out for about 4 or 5 laps then ran outta gas. Oh well, won't make that mistake again. Second practice was much better, getting smoother and faster, but still close to trackday conditions.
The rookie race turned out to be what everyone's told me, no big deal. Had alot of fun chasing that dude on the 600rr around the track, even though he shoulda been chasing me!
My first real race, heavyweight super-sport! Wow! The start was insane, two or three bikes banging into each other coming into one and I was like "holy shit!" Had alot of fun in that race! Was alot more intense than I thought! Next day I did the GTO. Quite a workout I must say, but I feel as I made the biggest breakthroughs as a rider in that race. I went much faster than I had ever gone before, dragged my knee and got to pass a bunch of people, as well as being passed . I placed 6th, and scored my first 7 points! Thanks to Degsy, Jamie and Jay for running the pitboard for me! It was a trip to have you guys out there, kinda like you were in the race w/ me.
All in all a great weekend! Thanks to NESR racing for giving me all the support so I could make it onto the race track! Special thanks to Gordon, Degsy, Tully and Jay! If not for you guys, I'd still be standing up against the fence in T-1 watching the races, instead of being in them! It was also great to see all the NESR members that made it to the track for the weekend! Hope to see all of you up there again in October!
