slicks limit the classes that you can run ... i'd go with just DOT race tires if I were you

i am going to get a set of diablo corsas mounted on my second set of wheels. that way i can run slicks when allowed, and run those when i cant run slicks. I think theres 2 races i cant run slicks in that i want to race in.. so no big deal.

going to look for a used set at the track when i get there. i hear thats the thing to do.. from a few others i know. I have a spare wheel for the rear.. so i have 3 rears and 2 fronts right now. I'll mount the rain on the rear, and either swap out the front when i need to or try and find a third front wheel.

tire warmers... prob going with the tyrsox for now. maybe some used chickenhawks i have a line on pending price.

this is what the bike looked like last week, then i took it apart to fix a couple things i missed and decided to pull the broken frame slider bolts out and replace them. also had to put the stainless lines and new brakes on. calipers are now black, muffler is black, going to throw some paint on the swingarm too befor ei put it back together.

oh yea it has an ohlins steering damper too.

I'd think that third set of rims would be of more used to you if they were wrapped in intermediate rains. Switching between DOT's and slicks just adds one more variable, it isn't gonna help you learn the bike. Also I think the consensus was that slicks aren't gonna make a bit of difference till you're down in the mid-teens.

Too late. Already ordered. not like im going to get worse or something running slicks instead of DOT"s. if i run supersport races i cant run slicks, and theres i think 2 of those i plan on running, so the rest i can run on slicks. no biggie.

Well good luck man ... from being fresh off my rookie year in the 600 class, its tough and expensive, especially if you are going to run slicks and DOTs.

Emotionally it was a very up and down season for me and sadly alot of learning came of crashing ... as paul said "you have a very nice pavement magnet".

Don't spend too much time (or money) worrying about tires and such ... just spend alot of time focusing on your riding. I did that at first, and started with the michelins running me $400 a weekend, and all that jazz. Ended up switching to the older less expensive verision of the pirellis DOTS and ended up finishing strong at the end of the year ... plus saved a TON of money!

Ya can run the cheaper stuff until you get to the 19-low 20 range.

oreo was telling me he spends about $400 a weekend ... we are at $500 a weekend (with 4 races and tires) not including gate fees, gas etc;.

    EDIT:
If I was to start all over again ... i'd probably would have gone with RS125 or something as the bike and class is much better and safer for learning. But i'm invested in the 600 now and will continue to work with it for a couple more years

Just go out and focus on having fun (this directly relates to staying on two wheels) and staying safe in the NV class worry about the rest when you move up to AM.

i hear ya guys lol.. but i am not going to return them. doesnt hurt to try at least. try em out, see how i like them, compare them to running dot's, and go from there. you know? get a baseline for each of them and see if i notice anything

eh, i was focused on having the best shit too ... I came of of 2 years of track days thinking I was quick ... race 1 quickly put me in my place and on my ass. hahahaha

its hard to know what to expect until you actually do it ... you get so much advice from so many people ... but in the end you have to experience for yourself and just learn the same way everyone else has

just know its going to take you longer to learn your ride when switching tires ... its probably going to make for a steeper learning curve. There is SO much to take in, that changing tires is the last thing I would be doing.

    but to each his own

& rob, we're not saying you have to return them, it's just that we were in your position just last year... and more variables makes everything a little tougher & more expensive. Give it a shot, but we'll tell ya right now, it's VERY LIKELY it won't be worth the trouble & extra cost.

Ahh bollucks. This is going to be an expensive season. I forgot LRRS has those rules about tires in different classes.

*goes off to buy yet ANOTHER set of tires*.

Why are you guys buyin slicks? DOT race tires are virtually the same thing and in many cases they are BETTER developed for your bikes that the slicks you can get.

I got a set of maxxis slicks on the cheap, so I bought them. I figured for 240$, I couldn't go too wrong.
