I don't know, but it's from my experience that a racer in need will find, even without asking, whatever help they need. The racing community is so strong, we help anyone we can, even if it means they beat us in the next race.

My first experience, was my first year racing. Having problems with my first ex500. BJ Worsham comes out of his garage with a box of parts and says "Have at it".

Since then, I have tried to do the same and I feel the majority of the racers are the same way.

maybe it's the beer talking, but we should be running the country.

anyways, share any experiences you may have had

I went up the penguin school last friday.

    A little background first:
I meant to do a track day. Somehow I fucked up the days and showed up for racing school. I figured WTF, let do it.

So, when I pulled up is was raining and I felt lost (try to remember the first time you showed up at nhis). This dude was said "you can use some space in my garage and if you need, feel free to use my tools, just make sure you but them back." I thought holy shit, most people are so territorial around tools, what a cool guy. Anyway, I has some problems gettting the bike set up and he again offered help (in fact if it wasn't for Dan I wouldn't have got out on the track). He had his own bike to deal with, but helped me just because he is a generous guy. Racers have to be the most generous, laid back people I have every met.

Also, Dan gave me a bunch of tips for dealing with the wet track. Somehow I felt a lot more confident because he was like, hey you can do this, just watch yourself.

I had figured that racers would be big ego type dudes (as in hey look what I can do). Not the case. Huge props to all the folks up there.

Also, I've been bitten by the racing bug. I plan to do a bunch of track days this year and consider getting into racing next spring.

No shit. A country run by racers would rock! Since my 1st weekend up there Gino has sourced me more hawk parts and knowledge than I can even remember, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't be racing if it weren't for that guy. Thanks Gino, and all the other awesomely generous club racers out there!

I can't even begin to express my gratitude to everyone who's helped me out. I agree, racers are the best group of people out there. Ya do what ya can to repay those folks that help ya out the best ya can, but realistically, ya can never come close.

Bikers in general have that Brotherhood thing going on. It just adds to an already great sport in itself.

completely agree. racers are the most giving/helpful ppl i've ever met...

examples are numerous, but a few are... summer 99, summit pt WV, showed up w/ the hawk and its jetting was waaaay off. happened to pit next to a few other hawk racers, never met them, they saw/heard the issues and started ripping into the bike before i knew what was going on, 30min later it was running perfect (and i've barely changed the getting in the 8 years that elapsed)... more recently, last weekend... low-side, bent fork tube, broken footpeg, shifter, frameslider, etc. a13x rips up on his pitbike almost before i was standing asking if i'm ok, pushed the hawk back to my pits insisting i ride the pitbike then matt, alex, gino, chris, doc, ryan, bob, frank all help out/donate parts/expertise and a few hours later she's damn near perfect again...

these are but a few examples. racers are the best ppl on earth. if every weekend went like the last one for me i'd still do it just to be around ppl like this.

I remember one particularly Rainy weekend last year when Jamie had a little trouble in T1. DNF pushed the bike back to the pits and everyone tore into it to get it ready for his next race...without question everyone jumped at it to help any way they could. good times guys, good times..

I completely agree. Today, I had to explain to someone how friendly people are up there and how priceless it is to head up and ask questions. I found myself fumbling for the right words. In the end they didn't really understand, nor did they believe me. Kudos to everyone up there!
