Rain woosie

    Rain woosie

Been racing for over 25 years, raced in the rain plenty of times and was good at it in my prime. Now I find myself not wanting to go racing when its wet at NHMS. If I travel some place like NJ, VIR or Barber of course I will mount the rains and do it. But lately I can't get myself to slog around NH. Canceled last weekend and now it looks bad for this coming event. I am a old pussy I guess? Just venting and disappointed. Hope things look better for the national? Oh wait it's only a club race with cars now!! Wah....

    Re: Rain woosie

I understand completely. I will go out there without hesitation at any track but NH. Every time im out in the rain in NH i dont know whats going to happen. Turn 2's paint might bite me this time around, or 12, or the paint in 3, or any turn. The thing about NH in the rain is the inconsistency every lap in the rain. At least when im on other tracks in the rain with rains on i can find the limit (of my skills) and ride it. At Loudon i find it very hard to find and maintain that limit. I raced last round, and i will be there this weekend but i am truly forcing myself to do so. Basically f*ck loudon in the rain lol i dont blame you in the least if you or anyone else isnt there this weekend.

At Loudon, you may as well become a rain specialist. Nearly every event features some weather. That said, what I really need right now is some dry time at that track. My return to race pace will have to wait another few rounds. I wish I could have practiced yesterday.

I'm gonna pass on this round with the impending weather. I'll be there, but not with a bike.

I feel the same as you do.

Unfortunately, Its not Fun for me anymore to ride around in the wet. Not chasing championships at this point in my club racing career. So don't see the need to do it. Again I want to race so this is disappointing, Mother nature can be a bitch...
So good luck to all that venture out.
I hope to race all three days during Fathers day weekend.

    Re: Rain woosie

If you want to find comfort and speed in the wet at NHMS you need to sort out what used to be fun about it and how to get back there.

NHMS has some sketch spots in the wet for sure. I'm not what I used to be in the wet at NHMS but the key is to stay very loose and ride dirt bikes in the mud..

i love racing in the rain. grid sizes tend to be smaller too thus reducing any chaos.

Loudon's gotta be one of the most difficult tracks to ride in the rain.... 1,096 different types of pavement, 1,873,052 slick spots to try and avoid, 1,983,591,821 ways to fuck it up... per lap.

But fuckin hell, I love it.

    Re: Rain woosie

Well so far this season i have done 2 rounds and officially done 3 practices and 1 race in the dry crashed on saturday during the lwgp in 10 on the last lap. The track was an ice rink, lots of crashes especially in 2. I would go through there almost straight up and down with no gas and the damn thing still wiggled over any paint i touched. So ya i hate hate hate Loudon in the rain. I hope for some dry weather some day so i can finally work on getting up to my dry pace.

My approach to T2 in the rain: Hold 1a a little longer than normal to get a better angle for 2, flick the bike over for T2 and set your lean angle WAY FUCKING EARLY, get back to neutral throttle as early as possible, hang off like a mutha fuckin orangutan and DON'T FUCKIN TOUCH THE BARS.
