    Reading your tires

I am curious how concerned I should be with tire boogers. I am told by non racers that I should pick or shave off all the boogers. I have no issues with them because some are lost and others picked up after each session. I'm also a rookie and likely don't have the feel needed to notice a difference.
Also, is there any information out there on to "read" your tires? Do certain patterns have meanings? Does sliding show in the wear pattern? Does rear tire misalignment show a specific pattern, etc?

You can pretty much ignore most boogers. I do tend pick them off when I brush the tires off before putting warmers on, so they don't "cook" into the tires. But it won't effect performance.

As far as tire wear goes, if your rear tire seems to develop a sort of house-shaped profile after a lot if use, it means that you are waiting too long to get on the gas. The extreme side "flat spot" is from scrubbing speed and the "roof flat spot" is from being straighter up when getting on the gas.

If you get on the gas sooner, that defined ridge between the two flat spots will start to round out, because you are leaned over more when getting on the throttle.

I was once told if you have boogers you are not leaning over enough.
