The funny thing about the bumps is, they're always in the same place, lap after lap.

I did 2 track days at loudon...crashed at one...

but not because of bumps - I ran too wide, into the grass somewhere in the back, and crashed there

ya the bumps are fine...still safer den da streetz

Re: risk management advice from experienced racers

I have a set of Vanson Leathers that are going on 15 years old. I raced with them in 2003-2005 and then did track days every year at least once. Now I am back to racing and finally had my first crash in those leathers last October going for the glory in lap 1 in a wet race. (never pass people on the outside of turn 2 in the wet)

I remember going to a race back in 2002 to watch friends that I had done a track day with. I was in turn 3 on the bleachers watching a race when a girl coming in hot low sided and crashed. She got up and ran to her bike and with the help of the corner worker got the bike back up and then continued on the 1/2 hour GT race. Next time she came around she crashed again tucking the front on the brakes. She got up and ran to the bike and got back on and continued. The next lap she ALMOST crashed again when she decked the engine case cover leaning so far over. The next lap she crashed again, ran to the bike and got on and then finished the race.

This chick was about 4'11" tall. Tough as nails. She taught me that life is not to be watched from the bleachers. The next race weekend I was out there on my newly purchased used EX500 race bike (along with a cheap set of crappy HJC leathers that blew apart on my first crash. The Vanson's were purchased right after that). I sold my Ducati and started racing. Best thing I have ever done as a hobby. When I talk about racing my whole face lights up. It's not just the time on the track but time hanging with like minded crazy $Q#%'s.

Crashing at speed sucks and you can get hurt. But its a crap load safer than riding on the street which I still do.

I'm forced into semi retirement due to concussions. I have had two in 10 months. Needless to say my wife is not happy. Both times.I woke up in the hospital.

I'm sorry to hear that man. I remember the first one. I hadn't heard you got injured again. That blows.
    May your recovery be speedy.
