I'm gonna give my first shot at racing in 2003. I'm planning on getting a GSXR600 or 750 in late February, early March. I gonna need some help from some of you racers on whether to get the 750 or 600, how to get my license, safety wire............. I just want to be on a competitive bike. I weigh 195lbs right now hopefully I can get down to 185. I just feel I'm gonna be too big for a 600.? I wanna be able to win! And if at all possible, I'd like to be a part of the NESR Race Team. I do have some mechanical skills and I'm sure I would be able to contribute to the team. I CAN'T WAIT TIL APRIL!!!

    peace
    Gary

Start with the 600, you wouldn't be able to use the extra power 'till you learn the track anyways.

Not that I'm all that qualified to be answering racing questions, but my vote is for the 600. Hone your skills on that before you step up to the 750. The power difference is almost a moot point at Loudon anyway. Most 600's will get around there just as fast as the 750's will, all other things being equal...

    School is at: www.penguinracing.com

Follow the link for safety wire rules.

Don't know if the '03 schedule is up yet, grab the first of the year class, this way you'll have all season to get points.

If Stoneman gets enough interest, say 10 people, maybe the site could get a discount?

Safety wiring's a piece of cake once you get the hang of it. It'll all be in the new rulebook for 2003, which isn't out yet...

Gary, lemme know if you're definitely gonna do this. I'll be taking the first class of the year next year (GARAUNTEE it'll snow!). We'll hook up and hit it together. You could crash at my place the night before and that weekend. I'm only about 15 minutes from the track...

Just be warned: For some strange reason, we usually end up drinking until about 3:00 AM or so the night before Penguin School. Don't know why, just happens...

If you look at the results in Heavy Weight anything you will see there are a shit load of 600's placing in those classes

So go with the 600, in my opinion

    600 or 750

Gary, I have seen you at the track and followed you around on the 1K and I think you would be fine with either the 600 or the 750. The 600 will easily pull you around the track even if you weigh 210lb but I think you can handle the 750 no problem. Just hook up with me when you get your bike and we can safety wire it and do all the preparation stuff.

Oh, and welcome to NESR racing. The door is now closed for NESR racers as we have the 4 that we said would be the limit.

Let me be the second to welcome you to the team. So 2 Gixxers and for now, two Hondas. Do I smell a first weekend wager? Probably not, if all goes well I will also be on a GSXR by the begining of the season...

    Gary welcome aboard.

If you can't beat a lowly 99F4 with a GSXR 750 things are pretty bad..
