    Rotor Buttons

On the EBC the buttons are suppost to be loose right?

I think I remember seeing that they should be replaced with the smaller buttons after the first heat cycle in the rotor.

I think i still have the replacment buttons but I can't remember the exact reason for replacing them and when to do it.

    Advice?

    Thanks.

Yes, they're supposed to be loose
They're a pain in the ass to change. I know some people dont bother.

    Re: Rotor Buttons

You replace them so that the rotor doesn't get so loose it allows the brake pad to fall out.

    Ask me how I know

    Re: Rotor Buttons

I always put the "loose" pins in to start. They allowed the rotor to float nicely.

Sounded like a bucket of loose bolts wheeling around the pits, but was super smooth when I used the brakes.

Not sure how a floating rotor lets pads fall out... but I sure don't want to own a bike where that can happen.

Maybe. I don't know. But I know the point of brake pads is to stay in the fucking caliper.

Youre preaching to the choir there bud.
But Im fairly certain the buttons are SUPPOSED to be loose, so I cant imagine they're the reason why.

Actually, the point of the brake pads is to clamp down and create friction with the rotor to help bring the vehicle to a stop.

    Just so ya' know...

But, they can't accomplish that task if they don't stay in the fucking caliper.

And when someone designs a motorcycle where the rotor keeps the brake pads in place... let me know so I can look elsewhere.
