Thumbs down Rumor confirmed. No more pure PTwins class for '07

Still gonna be PTwins, just being run with 125's (and possibly SuperSingles... which I wasn't a fan of at all. It wasn't as bad in AM though.)

Subject: [NEAR_EX500] 11 days to get a simple answer

Folks, see the exchange below. In a nutshell, PTwins will run with 125's next year. Don't know about Super Singles.

I'm disappointed for a few reasons ... the fact that the combination is happening at all being least important.

What's got me tweaked more is the decision not to communicate with any of us in advance -- at the very least Micky & I. (The rider reps THEY chose.) And then when I take it upon myself to ask, Don delays replying. (There is another exchange between Jerry and I that I've left out ... he and I parried back and forth once.)

So in the end I had to ask 3 times ... WTF?!?!? And even now when Don finally answers, the obfuscation continues. He has umpteen computers at his disposal -- Are we supposed to believe he writes the schedule changes on a cocktail napkin while out for drinks with Jerry and Dee in Florida?

    Can you tell I'm pissed?

Still, forgetting my obvious eunuch status, we should remain open ... this COULD wind up being better for PTwins riders.

Why? Well, 125 Grand Prix was Saturday Race 11 last year. I'm hard-pressed to believe Don would (a) combine them with us (I frankly can't imagine a more diverse pairing of bikes, but that's subjective) AND (b) move them to our late-Sunday slot. That would be two hard slaps in the face to the 125 guys, and we all know Jerry has a soft spot for pure grand prix bikes.

If PTwins were to become a Saturday race, I wouldn't mind that one bit. (Personally, I'd run PT, then one early Sunday race, and then bug out.)

Paul (Duval? I thihe wrote the NEAR post below that first alerted me) if he knows anything more. Hopefully we'll get some more news soon.

You know, with 3 bits and a "Rider Rep" title, you can get a nice cup of coffee.

    Somewhere. In a few days.

My whole reason for suggesting the aprilia class was to save the all 2-stroke race for the 125s!!! We did not get that.

Good luck with your efforts though...

    Niche class.
    LRRS Only (not CCS class).
Low entries (average 9 or 10 Experts, 3 or 4 Amateurs).

Not surprised. Mixing with 125's does seem little weird, but who else you going to mix it with? 125 class also not super packed class (16 or so total entries'ish) and only the top 2 riders are going 'pretty damn fast'.

Lucky it didn't get canned all together, maybe in 08.

They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell

True, it's definitely a niche lass, but in the last PTwin race of the year there were 20 combined experts and amateurs, about 10 in each and if anything the number is growing. The EX/AM PTwin class is already runs with the supersingles for a field of 30+ bikes. If they just add the 125's in there, it'll suck.

Big whoop. As long as I'm in the PTwin's class, I don't care if I'm racing with motards/125's/SV650's. I'm used to racing against them in 75% of my races anyways. It's just nice to have a Ptwin class, doesn't bother me if it's in the same race as any other bikes (as long as people aren't gettin buzzed too badly).

yeah, as long as PTwins isn't being deleted from the line-up & we've got our own wave still, I'm fine w/ that... when I first read BJ's post though, i thought he meant that the PTwins class was being combined w/ the 125 class.... that was my main fear & that's what I thought when I first read BJ's email.

I don't think so, that would be like combining 600 SS's and cardboard boxes.

It was never PURE. Ptwins always had another class on track at the same time. THey are not MIXING the classes. They will be seperate waves...

The 125 class is the one losing it's pure class. We ran nov/am/ex together with no other classes on track.

yeah, i said pure class cuz i actually thought they were combining the 125's into the same class as PTwins when I originally posted, then I realized different & edited the first post.

There had been some discussion about reintroducing the Aprilia Cup for thre RS250's to help fill up the 125 grid.
There almost seemed to be and RS250 glut at the end of the season.

Is the purpose of the change to eliminate one race on Saturday and ensure the "Dash for Cash" will be able to run on time, or is there another race taking it's place? Maybe the proposed Aprilla Cup race? And I assume that now those Novices on the 125's are destined for the last race of the weekend with Novice PTwins, Super Singles and ULSB. I'm surprised I haven't read much about this, and only heard of it through BJ on the EX_500 list. It seems to be a huge loss for the 125's. Maybe no one except Paul knows about it?

Plus, I'm sick of those Schoolbus kids lapping me.

Yeah, It looks like I'm going to run the east coast USGPRU series next year with just a few visits to Loudon. I'm torn because if I skip out it puts the 125s in an even tougher spot for the future, but I have to race where there's a thriving series, not a dying one that management won't make an effort to save...

You should do USGPRU for other reasons than just that (which I know you are).
