I think everyone needs to calm down a bit. I can understand the people who weren't there or just weren't involved or weren't watching from that turn that looking at the pics its easy to say they should have just continued the turn. But once you hear from a few of the people involved they did what they thought was best at the time and I truly believe everyone made the best decisions possible. the 3 following riders didn't hit anyone, anything or go down themselves so for them there is no possible better situation. For Chris and Tim, from what Chris has said he kept calm, made a lightning quick plan and followed it through without a second guess and minimized the potential for total disaster.
and for those just looking at the photos you have to remember this was turn 1/1a of the FIRST lap of the FIRST race of the FIRST weekend of the year. at Loudon because those turns are linked together so close that at the start of a race there might only be 1 or 2 guys that are actually on the normal line through there and its probably either by being for or just by chance. otherwise you really don't pick up your normal line till out of T2.

to the titty bar...whose with me?
Pete, let's not get all high and mighty. I think most racer if not all know that staying on your line is best if someone crashes directly in front of you mid turn. But the point is simple; we are looking at a few pictures after the initial crash and saying "why are they out there, the should be in there on the line" I think it's silly to try and play csi and say what the should have done without knowing why they did it in the first place

Someone musta pissed in daves cheerios.
Could they have stayed on line? Maybe.
But one person checks up and everyone else has to too.
You can't exactly grab a fistfull of front brake at lean.
Also (once again) when apply the brakes the bike stands up...its natural.
I didn't see anything wrong with them running wide, albeit not ideal, sometimes its just what happens.
For all you guys know....they WERE on line. If they were on the outside of 1a when shit hit the fan then everyone would've slid in front of them. There would be NO moving to the inside, or there would've been more bikes down.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

OK ! I did not read every post but i did hit most of them...
I was one of the guys ( 3 riders ) going through the turn.
Let' s just say that i have avoided a number of people since i started racing.. this was the second person just this weekend that went down directly infront of me...
I came through 1 at speed passing the guy on my left in the photo in turn 1. ( i was on the outside going through 1 ) we started going through 1a ( now i am on the inside ) we are all still pretty much together at this point, Then the shit hit the fan.. Now if you race you will know that turn one is around a 75 mph turn... then you goose the throtlle from 1 to 1a during your transition.. when those guys went down I grabbed the brake and was trying to avoid the whole thing.. so going from [B]race pace to 10 mph mid turn with about 10 feet apart is pretty damn good.. everyone has there thoughts but unless you where there... oh well ... I am not upset about anything anybody has said...
Tim the speed bump here. Just wanted everyone to know I'm OK. Four broken ribs which should heal in a few weeks.
