Seems like yamaha's are taking over at Loudon...
Depending on contingencies next year (and if I can place for it) - who knows what I'll be on

Actually, from what I heard, Yamaha cut their contingency by a LOT, hence why some of the guy switched to Kawi and Suzuki...

Suzuki cut theirs too. That's why Jeff W. is on Kawi this year.

Kawi is the only one offering factory contingency this year.

    Where Have you Been?

The R6 Has been the bike to win on For a few years, In ASRA and WERA and CCS you will often see GSXR1000's for the Big bike Classes and R6's for the middleweight.

I dont know if its money or how good the machine is?

    Re: Seeing double.

Yamaha has a few things going for it. They are a little cheaper then the Suzuki and they have a monster motor in them. The reason I ended up with one over any other bike was the price. I paid 7500 otd brand new for mine as a left over.

I usually don't borrow bikes for track use, but i know my way around loudon ok - i may take you up on it...

I have mainly stuck with suzuki for 3 reasons.

    1. I can work on them with the lights out in the garage with one hand

    2. I have a suzuki parts depot in the loft

    3. I've only ridden a new R6 on the street and didn't hammer the crap out of it (felt super flat).

Hey it doesn't matter now, not like you can do much worse to it

I think those first two are the reason most people have gixxers because they are very common and parts are easy to find, etc...

And as for #3, that's why I stopped riding mine on the street. They were meant to be race bikes. Wring it out and you'll be smiling ear to ear.

    Re: Seeing double.

Jeff Wood raced the GSXR600 for 2 years (2005 and 2006) and you saw bunch of GSXR's. Jeff switched to R6's for 2007 and 2008, and now you are seeing lots of those.

When the fastest guy at your club is on a certain bike and winning every race and then going to the National and doing the same, it does have a trickle down effect. Hencewhy companies sponsors certain riders

It also helps the R6 has been the best on-track 600 for the past few years and enjoyed success at the AMA level. The majority of the bikes at the AMA Nationals in the Daytona Sportbike class are R6's, just like the GSXR1000 is the bike of choice in the American Superbike class.

Bunch of factors. But those are two of them.
