i like the reversible ones (snap-on) that Degsy has, but i cant justify spending $120+ on a set of pliers when my $30 from S&C work just fine.

Re: Sick of my crappy Safety Wire Pliers... Just ordered new ones

    Bump...

Three years later & these things are still the bees knees. Wire cutters still as sharp as the day I got them. Considering how I used to have to buy a new set of the crappy ones every 2-3 seasons, these are easily gonna pay for themselves if they haven't already.

Every once in a while I'll kinda wish that I ordered the smaller 6" Milbar 25w model, but those instances have been far & few between. Usually the larger ones are fine & get the job done a little quicker.

The only thing I gotta watch out for with these is surface rust... it's usually only cosmetic, though and wipes right off with an oily rag.

*sigh* impulse eBay purchase.... Milbar 25w tiger wave safety wire pliers. 109.99 shipped.

The tiger wave jaws are super hard to find. I've had an eBay alert set up for years and this is maybe the second pair to pop up.

BEHOLD! The endangered and elusive Milbar 25w Tiger Wave!

A little surface rust on the jaws but they cleaned up easy enough. These things are MINT!

Reversible. It comes in handy on some bolts.

    This.

But the really unique thing about them is they have the tiger wave jaws, which don't have any knurling, but if you look again you'll see a waved gripping surface which grabs the wire in a way that doesn't make small nicks in the wire. The regular knurled pliers can scratch the wire which could lead to breakage.

These are REALLY only necessary in aviation applications... totally not needed for what we do.

But they're rad and I like them... because COOL TOOLS!

Looks like the one you already have. Will need to have a closer look. That said, I've tried yours and I don't like them. They're so big and stiff to open compared to my harbor freight one.

That's why I do not like the other 99% that are on the market. There is a 9" pair on ebay right now but they have the damn knurling.

Maybe If I make it to the next level then I'll buy myself a pair.

Yeah the tiger wave are very, very hard to find. I've had an eBay alert set for over a year and I think this is like the first pair that have popped up.

There's really nothing at all wrong w the regular knurled ones. Especially for our application.

I've been thinking about filing my current HF knurls off because of the obvious reasons. If I F them up then no big deal. I just have bigger fish to fry right now.
