*Sigh*... When you're forced to change "the essence of who you are"

As everyone who's ever seen a motorcycle race knows, you can't see faces on the grids. All there is to see of the riders is a mixed up sea of flashy helmets, leathers, paint jobs & race numbers. And only one of those rarely ever changes: A racer's number. It becomes the rider's identity. It's who they are. Hell, Jackie even got "I <3 82 Forever" tatooed on her asscheek this past fall. Okay, not really... but it's totally plausible! Okay, it's not even plausible. In fact there's absolutely zero chance in HELL that she'd ever do that... but the point remains! People HAVE gotten tattoos of their favorite racer's numbers before and hell, if I were into tattoos I'd probably have an 82 somewhere on my body (Maybe I do? Bet you'd like to know...).

But alas, it happened. Historically CCS reserved a racer's number till mid-late January, but not this year. And I missed it. Mised the deadline by... ONE... SINGLE... DAY and some other heartless, dirty, no good, low down (presumably not affiliated with LDR) sunuvabitch stole my number. The 82 is gone for... who knows, maybe forever. Time to move on.

    So what's next?

Time to go one place faster, that's what's next.

    Oreo's got a new name...

Watch out, Ricky.... Hoping to cover up that "8" in at least one class come 2016

That does suck but it happened last year too.

As for the tattoo, I meet a guy last year who was 44 for a long time then stopped racing. He has 44 on his arm. I went back a couple years to see if there was anyone with it before I took it. I did not see anyone active so now it's mine. I feel a little bad but he stopped racing. I could NEVER take someone number that still races, that just low.

I wonder if it's a new expert that just doesn't know and wanted a 2 digit?

Here's an idea for LRRS management: Add a checkbox to the online registration for the last event of the season to renew the license for following season. That would make tattooing one's race number on a significant other a safer bet.

I suspect the rebuttal will be:

We don't do online license renewals because we need the signature. We won't hold numbers without the paper past a certain date because people are late getting their forms in. Then they'd hold up a pic of Pete with his goatee photoshopped away looking sad.

In all seriousness, they got rid of per event garage rental payments because people are supposedly not paying on time, you really think they're going to extend any sympathy for numbers?

Is the "thief" at least going to use the number this year? Whoever took Weyant's number didn't even race last year. Talk about insult to injury.

I was sure that's how I got my number back in the day, renewed early and chose the number I wanted (450) as first choice.

That's a bunch of poppycock. You would think they would have a little respect for returning racers. I haven't got my verification yet though, does it come by snail mail?

I know you're a bit bummed about losing 82. Being the helpful person I am, I figured I would help you take the next step. At the same time start a new career as a painter.

I know they cashed my check back in December, but I haven't seen anything or see any difference on web.
