    Spare front ends kicking around?

So, I'm putting together a bike for LRRS next year, and I think it needs upside down boingers up front to look pretty, but my budget is already shot. Anyone got a lead on a modern sportbike front end (wheel, forks, clamps, brakes) for cheapy cheap? I've got a serviceable standard damping rod front end so I'm not desperate, but I won't pass up an upgrade if it's cheap enough.

(I love the auto-generated tag suggestions... spare, front, ends, kicking)

Friend of mine has a gsxr inverted fork set up. I'll ask him what he wants for it if you're interested.

I hadn't considered the Buell option, lemmie bounce that off Mr Kates seeing as he'll be the one revalving it. How did you like the ZTL brake setup? I've heard people claim it can have chatter issues?

Edit: The X1 didn't HAVE the ZTL setup, my memory is faulty I think.

lol, didn't you have an X1 at one point?

These forks were Mark Reynolds when he was racing in the Lightning Series and were built by Traction Dynamics. They were freshened up when I got them last year. 1.0kg springs, and several sets of preload spacers to give a 10mm range of adjustment (no external preload adjuster).

Re: Spare front ends kicking around?

Closest I ever came to owning a Buell was a used green S2T I test rode and quite liked and was strongly considering as an upgrade for my Honda V65 Sabre. I test rode a Ducati ST3 that same year and ended up going the Italian route instead. I've since had a very short ride on a hopped up to hell Cyclone on the street, never got to try an XB based mount.

Do you have a complete front end or just the forks?

Almost complete front end. Needs clipons (54mm) and master cylinder. Also have second front wheel.

I know, imagine how slow I was back when I had an 86 ZX600.

Those are about the same tech level I'm currently at, decent damping rod based standard suspenders with ok brakes. I was advised 'USD anything' as where to look next so I appreciate the offer but they don't quite match my search criteria at the moment.

Re: Spare front ends kicking around?

Ok, what is up with almost every front end setup on eBay not including the top clamp? They'll sell the forks, brakes, clipons, masters, switch clusters, and the lower clamp but not the upper?

I think is has to do with the ignition switch, the ignition switch bolts on most bikes are made to be impossible to take out(unless...) so for the people parting out bikes its just easier not to deal with that, and sell the ignition with the other locks as a set instead with the top clamp

Re: Spare front ends kicking around?

So, official marching orders are 01 or later GSXR inverted/upside down front end. I need the whole shebang, clamps, wheel, brakes, those stretchy bits that connect the forks to the clamps, etc.

I'm also flying the cheap card as always.
