Hi all,
I'm happy to report that I'm feeling pretty strong in my left leg and well I'm ready to get back on the racing 848 to see how it goes. I'm thinking about heading down to Jersey for a Penguin track day. I've got the bike all prepped and feeling pretty good. Even took it out for a short test drive back by the airport (I know, it's not street legal but I just wanted to make sure she felt good suspension/setup wise) Alright already get off my back, it will never ever happen again. <ObviouslyInsincereWink/>
My question is "are my tires from last season ok for a track day?"? There's still significant tread left on them, I just don't understand anything about how the compound ages nor much of heat cycles, etc. Now certainly, I won't running at race pace (not that I ever could) but I also would like to understand if there are ways to assess the health attributes and specifically what I could be looking for. They have been stored all winter indoors at stable room temps. I purchased these tires new from Dunlop in June of 2013, I think they're D211GP-UK's and I ran approximately 15 races and a half dozen practice days. If that's any idea what my pace is, these things should be bologna skins by now but alas they're still looking pretty good.
Anyway, any well informed constructive advice is extremely welcome. (Not that I won't chuckle at the sarcastic responses as well)
