I think he thought his best move was not to move at all...he actually drew his legs in a little immediately after he went down. you start moving around and everyone starts trying to second guess which way he's going.

My sense is he was OK...and made a good decision.

it almost seemed as though he was trying to make himself as small as possible and yet still visible...he appeared to not only tuck his legs in, but also raise his elbow as if to say "I am right here, please don't run over me".....very good quick thinking....
