Stole this response from the WERA forum regarding this article:

"It seams as though Dean has forgotten how things used to be in the prior good old boy AMA racing. It's not like the prior AMA didn't have it's issues. He seems to paint a rosey picture of how things used to be. You could remove the comments about the rolling starts, TV coverage and bike number deal and it would pretty much sum up what the AMA was prior to DMG. He seems to also ignor the fact that the economy all but destroyed most OEM race budgets.

At least the DMG is trying to go forward. Yeah they made some blunders in some areas but don't think for a second everything was rosey with the way it use to be either."

And on the topic of that article, the guy sounds like a crybaby. DMG is looking to improve and he wants to pout about it? I'd like to see them put a rule in that specifically bans him from any event they're involved in so I could point and laugh.

Not that I'm aware of. As I recall SS wasn't just 600's, it was the 848, 675, etc. It's just not really cost effective for the Kid's to run those bikes as they require more $$$ to make them competitive against the 600's. Much easier / cheaper to buy a XYZ 600 and race SS. However the option is there if a team, dealership, whoever wanted to put a kid on the Buell, Ducati, or Triumph etc.

As I said thou, I didn't follow the Supersport rules all that closely, so I'm not 100% positive.

DSB and ASB are the premiere classes, SS and Moto-GT the support classes.

What's the point of having cake if I can't eat it? Nom nom nom. Seriously, didn't mean to come across as indignant and if I did, I apologize. I love the inside info. I just get pissed off that everyone; me, you, the teams, promoters, DMG and manufacturers all know what US racing should be, yet it doesn't seem like anyone is on the same page on how to get there. They have made changes and I've never denied that the racing hasn't improved, but I guess I just expect things to change more dynamically. This isn't working; change it. This is broke; fix it. It seems like when they make a bad choice its implemented at light speed and the good choices are on the radar for next season.

I hear ya. Thing is put 10 guys in a room and you have 10 people who think they know the answer, obviously myself included. This discussion we are currently having is one that's been raging all year long.

For what little it's worth I do like a good amount of what I hear Roger Edmonson say about the future of roadracing. He does seem to get many of the core things I personally felt needed to be changed to make it better. He was very misguided thou on a number of other items and the way the public/paddock would react to them, no denying that!

"The way an OEM big-wig tells it, the presentation made by DMG operatives to OEM officials didn't include anything close to, "What can we do to earn your business?"

Maybe its because i didnt watch any of the races but i dont see why everyone is complaining about the racing this year. it seemed to me that racing was closer than ever and other people were winning instead of the usuals taking over. the whole Buell situation i can understand...at least the SBK side of it. if the buell in sportbike falls within the rules then who cares. its not about motor size its about HP. if the buell makes similar power to a 600 then run it, but to allow a non streetbike to race in a class that requires it to be one. there is already a class for one off bikes.....its called moto gp. make the classes be what people want to see.
keep superbike the way it is
keep sportbike the way it is
bring back the old FX...no rules (buell can run in that)
    bring back thunderbikes
