    SV racer types look here!

Do you have a stock starter/kill switch assembly laying around in your box of take offs? Gen1 (but they are likely the same as Gen2)

Kerry's starter is intermittently not working and I want to rule out the switch.

Is it the starter switch or the kill switch? My starter switch broke on my sv when i crashed last season and so i just got a cheap single pole switch and wired it up i didnt even bother soldering it just used electrical tape and taped it off to my bars. It got me through the rest of penguin school and a few TDs. But if the kill switch is broken also i think you be better off replacing the whole thing as doing what i did for both switches might now pass tech lol

Gen1 or gen 2 it shouldnt matter as long as it clamps tightly to your clip ons. Same number of wires

I had symptoms like that; starter would work sometimes, then not the next. Mine turned out to be a loose connection in the harness, the switch was fine.

I would double and triple and quadruple check the wiring to and from the starter switch cluster. With the battery out, test the switch using a test light or continuity tester from the starter relay. Also test the relay by using a flat blade screwdriver to short the fat terminals on the relay itself. If the starter still doesn't run after jumping the leads, the switch is probably fine.

Or you could just get Doug/carsick to look at it. That's what I did.

OK, I'm gonna open up the switch and check the solder. I will also check harness connections.

Well... dunno how much this'll help ya but I had some issues with the Aprilia kill switch a while back... opened it up, cleaned the contacts, put a little dielectric grease on any friction points & it's been good to go ever since.

If symptoms persist till the next track day I could pull the switch assembly off my race bike & you can throw that on there. Think they come off easy enough.

Just saw this. I will check when I get home but I think I may have one in the spares box.
