What I love is how he did THAT and was fine, yet I lose the slightest bit of traction in T8 and my bike is cartwheeling 10ft in the air.

He made a rookie mistake though. he could have taken turn 1 at that speed, he 'thought' he was going too fast and saw the tires and that was all she wrote. At that point he couldn't tear his eyes away and went straight for them. Should have looked through turn 1 and leaned into it. Would have made it I think.

He's a lucky lucky bastard. He actually steered for the 'in between tw tires' bit each time. Kudos to him.

I think his lines are off because he is clearly faster that 90% of the novices and he is strafing though the field.

He's now famous in the " Holy Shit " USM history books. Absolutly no one can believe he stayed up. No one, including Scotty Cole, has ever seen anything like it. He also took out 4 cones before his tire jumpin' madness. Scotty reported that his rear tire was 2'-3' off the ground after each tire bundle destruction. You can see the turn one Captain and pick up people off the wall ready to scrape him up.

And, to think, BJ worsham ends up with a broken collar bone from hitting just one cone...at pit in...( sorry, couldn't resist ).

I was working in turn 1 that day, you can see me and the other workers already standing and heading towards him. I called him down on the radio but had to cancel the rider down in 1 call.... I pegged him for a visitor to turn 1's guest services for sure.

What the onboard video doesn't show well, I'm sure the witnesses will agree, is the 3 ft high endo he rides into the 3rd (I think) row of tires.

I'm not impressed. Yea sure pretty neat you made it thru the tires (great save) but totally fucking irresponsible to just hammer past all the cornerworks and rejoin the field like that. His front end / brakes / brake line could have been easily fucked up and Wonderboy goes tearing ass into T3 at over 100mph and finds out he has no brakes and we'd have a RIP thread up here instead of a 'wow look how awesome he was'.

You blew turn 1, you fucked up, you almost piled it 4 times thru the tires. How about stopping for 2 seconds to make sure your bike is functional because hey, you aren't going to win that CLUB race today?

Also he re-entered the track in T2 all fucked. He immediately merged down into the racing line instead of staying high against the wall.

Sorry to be debbie downer and I'm glad he didn't pile in the tires but past that Maybe I'm just sensitive to it since I had a pretty wimpy incident earlier this season and found out my brake line snapped down at the caliper and I had no front brakes. Luckily I was at a full stop when I got back on the bike but it wouldn't have been fun if it was anywhere else...

I'm glad stuff like this comes out in these threads. As cool as it is to me to watch something like that, Alex made some good points I had not thought about. This is club racing, after all. Nobody is making a career out there, and most of us have to go to our real jobs on Monday. I'll file this away in the long list of things I've learned about racing on this board.

Of course, it's slightly less relevent for me, because I race an EX. They don't go 100MPH into T3, nor do they really have brakes.

I was in this race (#885), cant remember what lap it happened on but I was going down into 1 when I saw a bike up there out of my peripheral and it looked like those Nascar tires were flying! Crazy. Glad it was only tires that took the hit and not one of the rest of us out there.

naw that was my initial thought as well as far as pulling over and checking front end/brakes...I was just too lazy to post it besides 'hoooolly faaaack'
