    Re: Lets talk brakes...

dot 5 SILICONE OIL was developed for the military so vehicles could be left for LONG times with brake fluid in it without worry of water and corrosion.

It was NOT particularly good brake fluid but required no maintenance.

Previously mothballed trucks etc were drained and cleaned of all brake fluids and then would have to be refilled and bleed when needed.

It is unfortunate the follow up ESTER based brake fluid got the number 5.1 instead of 6 or 4.1 etc to avoid confusion

K&L probably makes rebuild kits. Any shop should be able to order from them. If not you could try them direct.

I ended up buying OEM parts from Oneida Suzuki. $80 for new pistons, seals, pins, and pad springs.

I'm not doing the refresh until spring though. I don't want the good brake fluid sitting in the lines all winter, possibly taking on moisture.

So, it's just sending the suspension off to GMD for refresh over the winter.
