    Looks just like the shock on Marks 1982 YZ250. !! I don't think there was any advantage, and the weight penalty was high. That must weigh 50 lbs!

    Looks like an attempt to brace the rear wheel movement with the front steering tube... which would eliminate some of the influence of frame flexing in theory?!

    They def. tried some whacky sh*t back in the day...
