How long do the N-Tecs last? I know that the faster you go, the shorter their lifespan. What I'm wondering is, how long at Novice pace? How long at fast Novice/slower AM? How long at quicker AM pace? And how long for mid-pack and slower Experts?
(I'm figuring out options for returning to racing in a couple of years; turns out there's a lot of MW bikes for sale out there very well set up for reasonable money)

Just a guideline from my experience....at novice pace you could probably get away with a set every other weekend and be fine..... Once you get into low 20's or high teens you'll probably want to be getting a set each weekend.... mid teens and you'll be looking at 2 rears and a front each weekend.
This is assuming you're running 3 or 4 races. I used to run Thursday/Friday on the previous weekends race tires, put a new set on during lunch on Saturday, then a new rear on during lunch on Sunday running 2 races each day.
For me:
1:25's + 12 races + race practices
1:20's+ 8 races + race practices
The following are based on necessiy for a couple tenths to 1 sec / lap, not because the tires are shot:
1:17's+ 4 races + race practices
1:14's+ 2 races (rear), 4 races (front) + race practices
1:10's+ 1 race (rear), 2 races (front) (estimate/best guess/never been there)
If you run take-offs (1:20's plus), divide span by 2, but cost by 4.
Thanks, that's what I was wondering. Not quite as bad as I thought it was going to be, actually. Hmmmmmm......MW is starting to sound more affordable.....

The fronts last at least twice as long.
You also have to consider the compound of the rear. Most people use the Medium+ which is harder and last a little longer than a Medium.
I use the softer Medium at a 1.15/1.16 race pace and I get two races out of the rear no problem then I dedicate that rear for my next two or three practice sessions at a 1.16/1.17 pace.
The fronts seem to hold up through two race weekends for me without and sketchy moments.
The N-TECS are more money but they are worth it. Once I switched from the cheaper GPA Dunlops I dropped over 2 seconds with ease. N-TECS are great.

Wish I could afford to nearly double my tire budget. Love the SV but wanna race MW.
Think I bought 8 or 9 rears and 4 or 5 fronts this season as it is & that was enough for me!

Yeah, I'm trying to figure my options. SV or another LW bike would be nice because they're easier on tires, but for some reason the idea of racing a MW intrigues me. And to be honest, I'm not seeing a lot of well-set-up SVs for sale on the WERA board (I've been trolling) that are still CCS SS legal. On the other hand, there are a bunch of well set up MW bikes for not a whole lot more money than the SVs. I guess I'm just going to have to see how things shake out over the next year as to what ends up in my garage.....
