I am going to guess that most of it will be locked out to us. I would expect T1 area to be available and the grass along T2-T3.

The track has gained about 2 acres inside the infield with the removal of the two, um, swamps, and the oil reclamation building, and other work, so even with the fenced in area, taking back a big chunk of that, the net is more usable camping space. You can still go all along the T2-T3 fence, and down by T1, and apparently even along side the pit wall. (I though the fenced-in area encompassed that, but maybe on the sides there's space?)

She added that the fenced-in area *may* be available in the future. Given the importance of the NASCAR event, I can certainly understand how they want to let all the new grading settle in before they let other venues use that (undoubtably premium) space.

She'd thought that sod would be brought in, (as was done outside of T1/1A, going up to the banking) but it wasn't, so right now a good portion of the available camping area is gravel. Thinking of an upside to it, folks with tents don't have to worry about getting flooded. ;-)

    See you all soon.

i spoke w/melanie earlier this week, asking about the infield - she said the grass was all laid out and that power outlets were now available.

so unsure if she has inaccurate info based on the johnny b note above.

I don't know how accessable this link is if you're not signed on. Go to the "NHMS Infield" folder. The motorhome court is actually in the center of the infield and there is a good chunk of open land between the court and pit lane.

These pictures were taken during the July 4th USCRA event. I have no idea as far as whether sod has been laid or not. Wanda said no. Foamy said yes. You decide.

All the wetlands are gone, the replacement haddock pond is located out by the rock factory way beyond K Lot. I have suggested to Bette and Wanda that it be named Bozzy's Pond. We had about 3 incidents of homeless turtles on the track last weekend.

Yeah, it looked pretty nice when I was up there last weekend. Hoping the sod got put down so I have somewhere to steak down my tent.

Super bummed about the T3 bleachers though, they're so far away from the turn, way up by the flagging station

There is more work to be done, they just had a list of things to be completed before the first Cup race. One notable thing on the "To Do" list would be the lowering of the rest of the upper pit lane. I assume that eventually there will be grass instead of dirt, time will tell if that's true or I'm full of shit.

The road had to be lowered where the bleachers used to be because the rigs that parked there were tall enough to interfere with Race Control's view of the back straight.
