    New to USCRA

So a former LRRS EX500 followed me yesterday. I plan to return to racing but with uscra and not LRRS. I have tons of questions as I plan my program for next year. Who here races uscra and can I pick your brain.

How do you sign up for races? Online or in person?

Everyone races together? No nv am or ex divisions?

    Is there a Friday practice?

There's also an email list for uscra. It's a Yahoo group.

    And Facebook group.

There isn't online sign up, pre-reg is via the mail currently. If you haven't been already, hit up https://www.race-uscra.com/ and read the rulebook. As you noted, there is no nov/am/ex, if you're safe to race you're out there. Typically they don't do a practice day before a race day, you practice in the morning of the race.

I will look up that yahoo group. No Facebook for me. I did print the rule book from 2018. Been reading it over. They don't use transponders either.. Manual scoring.

Do you need to rent garages like LRRS?

Nope, first come first serve. In the past the USCRA only got one of the two garages for their days, dunno if that's changed and they're now using both or not.

it is a fun group. some really interesting bikes. maybe we'll be able to play with the endurance race IF we have a bike the does not leak water, oil, gas. anything else in a bike that could leak out? yea it did that too.

    Re: New to USCRA

I expect the "first come" on garage space is denoted with an asterisk that there are about 100 crotchety old men who are accustomed to having "their garage"

    This is USCRA, after all.

    Re: New to USCRA

Yeah, and just so we're clear, you're not claiming an entire garage bay, you're just agreeing to snuggle in with the rest of the inmates. And yes, the USCRA does have a few cliques, including a group that believe everything other than 50s or earlier British iron should be banned from the club. Avoid them, have fun with the others who are just there to have a good time. Interestingly there is some crossover between USCRA racers and NEMM supermoto racers too, if you see pitbikes that are wired with street tires/slicks but are clearly dirty odds are you found some of them.

    Re: New to USCRA

Once you pay to get in, you get electricity and a garage (if you want). Most people are cool with where you go.

And yes it is manual scoring.

We are a friendly group of diverse people (not all old men). More women racers than LRRS at some events...

Time for change, and already had one project going, didn't want to be chasing stuff for two at the same time. Plus, 150SX needed a berth in the garage...

If it's well secured and has absorbant material secured in it, yes. I still have my baking pan from my GS500E in my garage as a tool tray.

How did you secure it to the bike? And what absorbent material did you use

    Re: New to USCRA

I used four hose clamps going through slots I cut in the sides of the pan, tied to the frame rails. Zipties will NOT pass tech, it needs to be solidly mounted. Pigalot sells pads that only absorb oil, a few layers of those held down by coarse metal screen so it wouldn't fly out on track (or hit the exhaust and catch on fire...) worked well.
