Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Well, all you have to do is get some trailwing tires or similar. But full height dirtbikes are not easy to flattrack. It can be done, but it's just not possible to control the big leaned over slides with such a high COG. Also, it's not confidence inspiring and will slow the learning process.
CRF 150s are perfect to learn on. I would keep the 350 as is, and get ice tires for it (ice is more forgiving), but get a little bike for flattrack.

Paul is trying to lead you all to salvation, follow him.
150f on knobbies is life at WVRC. There's a reason all the 450 racers have a 150 on knobbies for practice duties.

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Maybe about to piss in my own well here. But what the hell.
I think the CRF150F shows promise for other genres too. And by that I mean boxshop/NEMM, maybe OVRP too. The XR/CRF100 is a less costly choice, but I really worry about a machine that small being fun under a person of my.. uh.. displacement.. for long.
I've talked to a couple XR/CRF100 types that have commented that they'd like to see a bigger air-cooled/GP80 field (where the CRF150F plays). I think I want to contribute to that. Mostly because I can't justify blowing my lifes savings on a real motard.

Uh huh. Also only gonna buy this one motorcycle. Also only doing track days, not racing. Just admit it's a disease and start saving up!

To WVRC? Soon as I get a flat track bike. I know where it is, just have to convince the owner I'll use it more than her.
When are you riding ice?? :wavey:

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Sadly I suspect this year like last I'll be limited to what ever seat time I can get on borrowed machines, I don't see ice tires in the budget yet.
-
Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Yeah yeah yeah.
Kurlon needs ice tires more than I need anything. Just so you all know.

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Another great family fun day in the books. Fall is for flat track!
-
Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
I want to do the last family day this year.
Can trade dirty diapers and lunch/beer/gas for use of a bike.
Also willing to entertain being flooded with CL/FS-Ads for a well cared for CRF150F in exchange for unwelcome grabbing of genitalia that is NOT in any way considered assault.

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Dirty diapers. Hmmm... too bad I'm already just sharing Kerry's bike. Someone should jump on this though!

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
When is the next(last?) fun day up there? I'm debating whether it's worth taking the ice tires and fenders off the CR250 to drag it up there...
...or whether I should just sell it, since it got ridden on the ice twice last year and hasn't moved since.

I really need to go to one of these events. Every time they have one I end up having plans. I'll try to make this one if a group is going.

Dunno, there were rumors swirling on FB. I've got not concrete evidence. If I see anything, I'll post.

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Last season, Roger ran events until the ground froze, so I hope there are a few more left this year.

Two Sundays before thanksgiving was when we rode last year.
Then it rained and got cold. Then it was 65 in December -_-

Re: Wachusett Valley Riders Club
Here's their schedule: 2016 Schedule
But it seems like they added a couple of family fun days last year that was not on their website.
